I find that modelling tools are often far more efficient than kitchen tools.

We think of the Swann_Morton scalpel as a modelling tool but the blokes that cut you open use then for that job!

Yeah, it's strangely obvious when you think about it.

  3. Is making 4mm scale cow parsley a sign of madness?

We'll be expecting to see insects in there too Will. Preferably to a level of detail where we can distinguish the different species.

This was all so much easier in Z gauge - "look, coloured scatter!"

As you get older it gets worse. When you finally get to do the job,you find you've already done it.

As the song goes 'Gouranga Gouranga yes I'll be happy when you've been arrested for defacing the bridge'. Half Man Half Biscuit.

Possibly a bit, but just go for it, IMTS rules apply :-)

Rats, did some 'research' (photo browsing) and I haven't seen any on bridges *over* rail lines. I guess the Hare Krishna only want motorists to be happy...

  6. Putting together a set of prototype photos is disturbingly like creating a mood board. I feel like an interior designer.

I think you're right Will - it certainly helps focus a project.

Good stuff Will - good luck and I look forward to the de-brief on your blog! Make sure someone gets some snaps!

  9. A belated Merry Christmas to one and all!

  10. Layout has scenery from end to end, and some (rubbish) trees!

  11. Three coats of semi-gloss black on all the fascias and the pelmet parts, just ahead of the bad weather. Phew!

  12. Just found a set of 'holy grail' images for my current project. Hurray for Google and new search terms.

  13. My little orange clippers / (The ones for cutting track.) / Have vanished from the layout! / I hope I get them back.

  14. Can't find my packet of fishplates...

  15. This week, I sincerely hope! Otherwise I'm booked at the wrong place + time.

  16. Getting there slowly. I'm making a tree (see blog) to replace my crappy one. The problem is that my tailbone hurts like hell when I sit, so work + modelling are a pain in the ass... Let's hope they have nice comfy chairs in CHCH.

I did discover that Tanis just about fits in the hand luggage size restriction, which makes my life *much* easier.

  17. Happy New Year to you too :)

  18. Höllentalbahn has exactly the same street lamps as Whitemoor. Spooky.

  19. Forgot how tricky internet-less modelling was

  20. Setup at railex, plugged in and it worked! Not sure about reliability of couplings yet though...

  21. thinks superglue is the Devil's work!

  22. a bit late, but the pic of the week is brilliant! Good to see something without a train in it :)

  23. installing Sprat + Winkles on my MOAs.

  24. Off to Valkenburg for some Smalspoor!
