  1. And with 4 brake unit for the tender and another 4 for the Medfits (? Minfits) we could have run a train double that length! Phil
  2. Thanks Colin....I think it was the copious supplies of Piston Broke that Digby brought along that were responsible.... Phil
  3. Spot on Mike - but it did when it got to the fiddle yard, that's why the clip ended with the train still in view! Phil
  4. No cuddly toys were hurt in the making of this video... https://youtu.be/e4BbGAJ0I9g Phil

  6. So...time to put the brakes on this thread derailment and get back to something more fitting.... Hee hee A little something for the weekend... https://youtu.be/ohou8Ol8aRc Up and running this evening Phil
  7. Cheers Clive That tells us that there were greater concerns about the ability to stop than to go! Did that follow the accident in which D5383 was written off I wonder? ..... ah no having checked that was 1965..... Phil
  8. Weather is set well and truly for for tomorrow We have arranged a steam run past .... 5043 runs Tyseley - Hereford, due Churchdown 11.19 And based on recent weekends some significant historical aircraft activity is also highly likely in the vicinity... Phil
  9. Just looking at this again Who on earth thought that a 138 ton behemoth needed a brake tender? Phil
  10. Ah can hear those 20s warbling and the drain valves ticking on the Sunday line up of 47s... Great subject, looking forwards to seeing this advance Cheers Phil
  11. Hee hee well with all those baseboards you should be good at it by now! We'll have to drink all the cider and eat the hot dogs, pork scratchings and millionaires shortbread for you Phil
  12. Thanks Wibble Glad you enjoy our efforts - but Shenston Rd knocks ours in to a cocked hat for sure... Deltics? Ballymoss in 1978 was the first one I am aware of and that had a very funny number by that time But of course D5901 is a different matter entirely and gets far too much exposure ....its that lovely deltic moan.... Phil
  13. Thanks Clive Don't suppose you are up this way this weekend? Mr Dell visiting Satirday... Phil
  14. D4118 D236 D165 more old favourites!!!! Superb - thank you Phil
  15. Clive - the step/handrails as fitted to our and Greg's version make much more sense in the light of your picture - thank you Paul - cracking, lifting brackets too - more work.... Phil
  16. We will get it right for you one year Neil! And we be great to see your locos running too... Fishing is last week in September - hope you can make it over for at least a day Phil
  17. Cheers Mike We'll be having a play with Jimbo's Gopro camera so that may give us some new angles. You need to be quick getting the number if you are sat on the embankment when an express hammers past at 70mph.... Phil
  18. Once again the camera is cruel in that D4 picture - if anything isn't perfectly straight - handrail, OHLE flash, data panel - it leaps out and smacks you in the eyeballs! But lets move on. Weather forecast is excellent for this weekend - not a drop of precipitation according to the forecast We'll be putting Abbotswood up in the garden Friday evening... visitors Saturday, filming Sunday Sunday plan is to produce an epic to rival Ben Hur....sequential timetable featuring all available locos, get your spotting book out Mr Mortimore... Phil
  19. Dave Going back to post 7359 - my old friend D4 - your superb photo has actually prompted some modelling action tonight! See post 665 in http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/11410-abbotswood-junction-inspiration-from-prototype-photos/page-27&do=findComment&comment=2396617 Thanks again for sharing your super photos Kind regards Phil
  20. Occasionally a photo appears that inspires action Dave F posted a super picture of D4 on his prototype photos thread - see http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/85326-dave-fs-photos-ongoing-more-added-10th-august/page-295 post 7359 That prompted me to tackle a job on our D4 that has sat there for a while pondering. D4 was unique in having additional footsteps under the grilles on the noses and handrails on top of the nose together with additional OHLE flashes to warn of the risks accessing these posed - can be very nicely seen in Dave's photo. So an hours work tonight... The OHLE flashes were already in place, handrails and footsteps added. The loco is modelled slightly later than Dave's photo - has acquired a data panel . Its access to superb photos of the era that provides our inspiration.... thanks again Dave Phil
  21. Isnt that UID location shot in post 114 southbound at Wigan? Re drivers pulling the blinds down....was on a 116 at BNS to come back to Worcester one evening in 1969 in pole position behind the cab ready for the scenic trip home. The driver got in and pulled the blinds down ... and saw the look of utter disgust on my face. A moment later the door from the cab in to the saloon opens and he looks at me and says "If you want to see where we are going sonny you had better come in here with me". No second bidding required! Second mans seat all the way.Thereafter M50079 was always a very special boggo to me.... Phil
  22. I was trying to work that out too but lost the will! That 37 is certainly one of the D6960 - 6968 batch based at Stratford - the centre lamp iron above the headcode box, presumably there for headboards, is the give away Cheers Phil
  23. Thanks Paul We had better steel ourselves and get on with it then! Phil
