  1. Cheers Si! Ive got a few streetlights to do still and a few walls, then its the home straights really. lots of weathering and airbrushing to follow... Im getting all tetchy as I havent weathered anything or glued any pipes on for ages. Nickie says Im a nightmare to live with haha!! Thanks Trev
  2. Cheers mate The photos were a bit rushed and the lighting was in the wrong place to be honest I was tired! excuses excuses!!! Trev
  3. Well thats the Portacabins and the signal box permanently wired into the lighting bus bar. I had a wee play and got my trusty sound fitted ped out and once Id given the track a quick clean, found my new FNA nuclear flask barrier vehicles and put the three together. Hopefully now I can progress with the scenics. Tomorrow : below board magnets that I should have done last week! Cheers Trev
  4. Hi George, I've only just happened across your thread and I'm enjoying reading up on your progress immensely. I'm very jealous of your railway room - it looks bright and airy with lots of space.Your trackwork and building look really good. Hopefully your L1 will be fine with a bit of glue! Cheers Trev
  5. Good morning Andy! Maybe a little too bright on reflection! As my old mate Simon Barnes pointed out - it may be worth painting the wooden panelling sections to limit light bleed. As the L.E.D is in strip form, I may cut one of the L.E.D's off to reduce the Lumen output Cant wait to get cracking on the interiors - I need to do some research into the internals of a type 15 box Cheers Trev
  6. Ive spent another few days on and off extending the lighting bus bar to scenic board 3 and extending LED droppers from the 2 x Portacabins and the signalbox that I fitted recently. I temporarily hooked them up tonight and this is the result. Ive still got to add the interiors to each of the buildings. Thanks for looking - off to bed now, 5AM start! Trev
  7. Good work Si The Ped is looking mint Trev
  8. Hi Peter - certainly did! (mostly 111) - and the ED's too Happy days! Managed a few shots in between too! https://www.flickr.com/photos/58806173@N08/42177305041/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/58806173@N08/41278695795/in/dateposted-public/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/58806173@N08/42042493702/in/dateposted-public/ Trev
  9. Forgot to add that my magnets have arrived so i'll fit these tonight (for the uncouplers) ill be interested to see these in action
  10. A tiny bit more progress last night - I finished the lighting bus bar to board 2. I also managed to bend 2 point mechanisms and had to re-solder them back into position. This coupled with the fact I stubbed my toe on the table leg produced some epic profanities. (later I learnt that the mother in law was on the phone to my mrs in the living room at the time) Anyhoo, tonight will see the layout re-assembled so wish me luck! Trev
  11. A quick link to Long Lanes' Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LonglaneWRD/ To confirm that LL WRD is booked for the Cradley Heath exhibition in October - if anyones going, please say hello Hopefully it goes OK and it will be available for more shows in the not too distant future? Thanks Trev
  12. Hi Andy (Trev 2!!) Thank you for your kind words! Much appreciated The other Trev
  13. Hi there Andy, Ive been wanting to replicate these for a while now! Had a little sabbatical, trying to get my mojo going haha! (wish I had your oomph for building layouts!) Cheers Trev
  14. We all like a bit of tractor action mate! Top order! Trev
  15. Hi Peter - love the Crompton vid. It just looks 'right' something we all inspire to! Trev
  16. You've achieved some good progress since I last looked in Andy I like the pink HEA's! Trev
  17. Hi Neil Yeah mate slow and steady. Unfortunately there's always something that gets in the way! (lack of money/work/etc etc!!) Trev
  18. Its been another busy month for me with work, which meant modelling time was at an all time low sadly. Its slowly coming together, and the past few sessions have concentrated on: tidying the wiring loom and clipping to the board with self adhesive cable clips finishing off the remaining point control rods setting up the lighting bus bar cabling fitting the station lamps fitting the buffer stop warning lights fitting and wiring the resistors and connecting up the lamps to the bus bar fitting and wiring of a 230v-12v transformer testing once wired cutting out a hole in the baseboard for the controller fascia plate wiring in of said fascia plate destroying one of the buffer stop lights fitting a 4 gang extension Apologies for the haphazard wiring, it always starts out neat, but ends up all over the shop! Well it all worked first time, so I was surprised and a bit chuffed. Wasting no time, I plugged in the controller and did a little test with my new class 122. The long list of things to do is getting smaller by the day! I have to get a UK style plug for my NCE Powercab system - does anyone know who does these please? Heres a few pics of the progress. (Please don't be too critical of the wiring!) Thank you for looking Trev
  19. What a superb layout with loads of detail. Ive enjoyed reading from the start and seeing your progress! Following from now on! Cheers Trev
  20. Finally, I finished this phase with two double slips and a 3 way all "meched up". Thank God.... More turned wooden knobs on order via Ebay that will get drilled and glued onto the brass rods. Ive ordered some magnets too for making uncouplers. (Thanks to Sam for the paper clip method suggestion) I'm hoping they will be here in time for the weekend. If not, Ill be paper clipping some rolling stock in preparation. Might even do some weathering too. Ive got 3 or 4 new locos that need the treatment. Hope everyone has a good bank holiday and you get plenty of done! Roll on Swanage next week! Trev
  21. Another couple of hours routing, sanding, soldering, burning and cursing! Like I've said before, I know its not pretty and my wiring is less than neat, but it works! Cant wait till this is over! only 4 more points to do now then I can tidy up the wiring. Trev
  22. My last layout had DCC operated points, motors and decoders and tbh it was OK but nothing special! I like simple stuff, plus as the layout can be operated between 1 and 3 people, it gives the ops something to do! Trev
  23. Hi Peter! Thank you, really appreciate the feedback. TBH its not pretty but it does the job (and like you say easier on the wallet haha!) I'd love to go with Kadees, but Ive got about 300 wagons and 200 locos so Im not sure how much that would set me back - a few squid I imagine! Trev
