  1. Just after some advice with a Hornby HST that I have acquired. The loco wont move if I try and operate on DC. If I fit a TTS chip it will start up and provide sound functions but still wont move. Had a quick check and has far as I can see everything looks ok with regards to wires for pickups etc. If i rotate the motor manually it will turn both drive shafts and wheels. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it?
  2. I know what you mean but I take satisfaction from knowing I did mines myself!
  3. I haven't tried the satin stuff yet but I use the standard gloss stuff first before using a (different) satin over the top and never had an issue. That said, with the spot printed stuff the gloss probably isn't required.
  4. Hi, at the moment our Facebook page is the best source of pictures. If you aren't able to access it let me know via pm with your email address and I'll see if I can share some pictures with you. Thanks. https://www.facebook.com/Helensburghdmrc/
  5. On behalf of the Helensburgh & District MRC I just wanted to extend our thanks to the organisers for inviting us down at the weekend with Trenches. Really enjoyed meeting everyone and it was great to experience a Southern show! We were delighted/honoured to take away the Showtrain Cup, especially with the standard of the other layouts being so high.
  6. We'll be packing up 'Trenches' tonight for it's journey from Helensburgh to Tolworth. A couple of little improvements finished off for this show. We're all looking forward to the weekend, see you there! Scott
  7. Same as above, the First group blue and "Spotrail" blue is the same colour. I managed to stumble across the livery guides a few years ago to confirm.
  8. Thanks very much! I used a Halfords spray can, Vauxhall Atlantis blue.
  9. Cheers! I’ve got another mk2 just waiting for the new livery to be applied.
  10. Really nice work! The paint job likes nice and clean. I had a go at that myself a while back, results are in this thread. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/78637-caledonian-sleeper-coaches-other-bodges/
  11. I'd agree with that, pretty much gave up on most model branded aerosol's due to the same issue. The only one I would recommend is Tamiya but other than that it's Halfords every time!
  12. Railtec transfers are probably the best ones, just check your prototype for the version. Pop them in some lukewarm water for a few seconds then apply to the side of where you want it to end up on your model. I use the blunt end of tweezers to slide it off backing paper and into position.
  13. Really good show, I really liked the Irish based layout, Griffen Road Dock (think it was by the Ayr club?) and as ever Kinlochewe is always great to watch. Managed to pick up all the bits I was after to keep me busy until Model Rail Scotland in February!
  14. As a Rangers fan I certainly wouldn't be putting the name of Spivs Direct on my layout
  15. Now following, been thinking of trying one as a 314 for ScotRail.
  16. I recently finished off some ScotRail mk2's for a mini Fife circle set to go along with the stunning Dapol class 68. I used the new Hornby model that comes with led's fitted in the coaches. Painted the interior a little and added some passengers. Transfers on the TSO's are from R3sprays and the BSO is RailTec.
  17. Nice pics of your build Jim, I've picked up a few pointers for when mine starts! I came on here to see if anyone had put pictures of their build on but so far I've only seen yours.
  18. Thanks Shane, this is the first I've managed to get on RM Web since my 2016 arrived. Just wanted to say thanks for producing these, I did notice the missing window frames but wasn't going to bring it up as I was really happy with everything else! Thanks again!
  19. Thanks for the update Shane, I better go and find a donor coach now!
  20. I'm about to start the same project but having difficulty removing the inner ends, any tips?
