I do wonder whether DCC has now reached the stage of becoming a barrier rather than an advantage :(

Not at all. The lighting options being offered on this model are quite frankly staggering for an out of the box rtr locomotive. New developments and technology upgrades take time....it will only be a short period before an appropriately programmed decoder is available off the shelf, or as others have said, Cavalex list the auxiliary output options so you can either program them yourself, or someone can do it for you.

    Patience is a virtue.

Well just watched the Batman update as it says on the subtitles yes 31 435 is perfect for my proposed layout so I will be purchasing one of those.

Does it come in a twin pack with Robin? 😆

The roof rad grilles represent the fact that the real ones are spaced off of the roof not bolted on directly. There is daylight under the real ones and as such there is under ours.

The roof colour is not too light it is the exact spec for the livery from BR Railfreight. You cannot judge a colour from a photograph.

Looking at that prototype roof picture, they may well be spaced off the roof, but I can't see it. And that earlier Loadhaul model image looks as though there is a 'space' of a good 4 or 5 scale inches, that is simply not correct. And regarding the roof colour, I'm not judging from a photograph, I'm judging from experience of the real thing in all conditions, weathered, ex works, and everything in between.

Congragulations on an excellent model, it's just a shame a few of the details let it down. And let's turn the clock back a few years pre Cavalex Models, when you were only too happy to point out miniscule deficiencies with other manufacturers models. It works both ways!

I suppose the question to ask is why do visitors go to exhibitions - is it layouts, trade or both ?

Take out the layouts and you cut out a lot of expense - hall hire, advertising, insurance, etc need to be covered but if you charged traders a lot less would more go to your event.

The Guildford O Gauge Group have a 'Trade Show' next week - 60 stands - 1000 free parking spaces and only £7.50 admission. In fact after looking at their website, it does mention that they will have layouts there which may possibly be a first. Even at Guild events there are often only a few layouts - except at the main September Guildex at Stafford.

    .

And guild show footfall has been in decline for a long time now. Same thing....very few layouts and lots of trade don't cater for the current predominantly rtr customer.

  5. I'm installing a double slip on a layout, switching is via DCC Concepts Cobalt motors. Wiring these up for blade and frog switching is very easy.

    However.

I'm thinking it would be useful to have some electrical interlocking, also incorporating stop signals to prevent conflicting movements. Has anyone ever attempted this?
