Quick question before I 'bother' Kernow MRC, is anyone else still waiting for their order? Regards -
Prototype for Hornby R510 Platform Shelter
Liddy replied to Liddy's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Thanks Compound 2632, I get the similarity of the roof projecting all round and agree that other features are quite different. Thanks for the reference eastglosmog, again sharing some features. It appears to be an amalgamation of company styles, probably to broaden it's appeal. What I don't get is the upstand on the valance, anyone recognise it please? -

Prototype for Hornby R510 Platform Shelter
Liddy replied to Liddy's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Thanks JohnR, I'll search GWR and SR station photos. -
Hi All, Is anyone aware of a prototype for the long-lived Hornby R510 Platform shelter please? Having seen the distressed paint finish achieved on the signal box on http://www.p4newstreet.com/category/buildings I want to try on something simple and the shelter seems a good candidate. I'm looking for a suitable railway company paint scheme and ideally a photo to add realistic detail. Thanks

I wasn't aware of the difficulty the fireman faced until Chris mentioned it just then. Of course it's logical when you think about it. There's hardly room to swing a small domestic feline. Sounds precarious! That's going to be a challenge, creating a suitable figure when fitting the loco crew. -

I have an MR-201 on order, so I'm getting excited waiting for that email! -
It was great to see Frampton exhibited again at Monmouth yesterday. There was a very welcome guest appearance by 47567 'Red Star'.
-
Thoroughly enjoyable again. Thank you to Monmouth Rotary for organising this show and to all the exhibitors and traders who supported the show. I was spoilt by Bristol_Rich unearthing 47567 Red Star for a guest appearance on Frampton. Abbots Morton was new to me. I had to compliment the Sodbury Vale MRC guys for the detail, presentation and straight-forward trackplan giving great operation in a small space.

Cautiously excited!

Thanks for your post Bristol-Rich, is Red Star well enough to make an appearance?

Hi shipbadger, I look forward to seeing your demo. And Gilbert thank you for the link, I see Rich Eason is exhibiting again.

I can't find a thread for this show, so I'll post one here, I'll also try and get it added to the Exhibitions calendar. I'm a big supporter of local shows as is 96701 of this parish. We're lucky to have this one in town organised by the Rotary club. It will be in the same venue as last year The Bridges Community Centre on Drybridge street on the road leading to Rockfield village. Official details on the link below. http://rotary-ribi.org/clubs/page.php?PgID=327038&ClubID=635

I'm at it again. Lots of thought has been given to operating a small layout, I am determined to have a loop for shunting wagons. My latest plan is shown on the left and was created with Anyrail software.(Clicking any of the images will enlarge them). The photo below shows progress to-date. Essentially there is a single running line with a loop and 3 sidings for; coal (or special wagons), arrivals to the store and a departures/storage siding. Part of the thinking is to operate as a standalone board with small locos plus 3 or 4 wagons and also to use 'scenic' fiddlesticks (ground textures and backscene) to allow the use of longer locos when space permits. Currently my effort is concentrating on the loop and points, they've been assembled with rail joiners and lightly soldered. I'm trying to decide if re-spacing sleepers on the plain track is worthwhile. This layout is aimed at shunting BR goods wagons from the 60's and early 70's including the odd gunpowdervan and palvan. Couplings will most likely be modified tension locks to the Brian Kirby method. All comments welcomed I'm delighted to be making progress. Both children have left home and redecorating/re-furnishing the largest spare room as a proper guest room then released the smallest bedroom as a 'Train' room. I've installed a pasting table (modified with longer leg braces to get it flat) and making genuine progress. This link shows testing with a Black Beetle motor bogie and a 9V battery to check rail joints/track alignment/electrical continuity.

I recently bought a Scenecraft OO/HO 44-180 Traders store and I'm very impressed. I was looking for a goods shed for a micro layout and most Ready-to-Plant is just too big. The plan is for a small rural yard, essentially a 'loop with 2 sidings'. RTP structures have been chosen to help maintain momentum on the layout build. The size is ideal as a temporary store for odd items not collected on the day of arrival. The tiny rail-side platform is at the right height for a standard BR 12t van. I will be adding a tiny corrugated porch over the platform as shown in a couple of prototype photos and bedding the 'legs' into the scenery. If anyone has any detailing or weathering suggestions I'd be most interested.

A sincere thank you to Cradley Heath MRC and in particular Dukedog for a super show. Great venue and catering, excellent support for car parking and a cracking mix of layouts. I also have to make a special mention of thanks to Jim S-W and Simon for the behind-the-scenes peek they generously afforded me on Brettell Road. -

Delighted to recieve an email this afternoon confirming my pre-order with Hattons has been processed. Looking forward to getting E175712 Monday/Tuesday.

Thank you, that is great news. More clever engineering design and added value in making sound installation easier has to be applauded. -

Thank you for the clarification on the decoder socket. I will be fitting sound to mine. I plan to use a small LNER/ex-NE tank engine sound such as the J15. (I can't see any sound projects from the region of locos with cylinders as small as the J70, so that will do for me) Unless someone has an alternative idea.
