  1. First 4 and a half months of marriage successfully completed, first 3 months of pregnancy (by the wife, not me!) completed - and a burning desire to get the modelling gear back out :)

Cheers all :) - We are both very happy!

Rather than jumping straight back into the shed, I'm going to take advantage of something that was mentioned a while ago and fill the alcove above my PC with a small shelf shunting plank, using stuff which I have kicking around primarily.

  2. Birthday number 28 celebrated with a trip to the garden centre, model shop and transport cafe. Rock N Roll!

  3. Best Germany v Greece game? - Well, I do remember one... Germany started favourites in that game as well, but were beaten by a controversial last-minute headed goal from Socrates. The goal was hotly disputed by the Germans, with Hegel arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx claimed it was offside.

  4. Fax machines...useless bits of junk...why do we still persevere with them??/

At work the other day I needed to get a simple piece of information from the head office of a very large (household name) company. Unbelievably, they wouldn't accept email and asked I send my request via fax.

  5. Was given a bottle of home brew 17 days ago which had been bottled that day. Will it be alright to drink tonight whilst watching the snooker?

  6. That old modelling cliche - the bus on the bridge. Where? On the cover of the latest MRJ...

Ian - Was the cats eye that got me too. Something you very rarely see on a model, but the simple addition of it, combined with the lovely, muted colouring etc... - who cares if it's half finished, it's absolutley stunning!

  8. Back still agony, but feel guilty about missing work, so using annual leave rather than phoning in sick. Loyalty or Idiocy?

Just hobbled down the shop and back. Definatley easier than yesterday (and this morning!). Might be able to blag a lift back to the station in the afternoon if I need it tomorrow though! - I'm off on Wednesday anyway (Easter Egg hunt at the local farm shop/pick your own with little man), so will probably just put up with it tomorrow!

Yep, thats my thinking - this will be the second day on the prescribed painkillers, so hopefully taking today off and resting it will allow me to go back tomorrow.

Thing is Tim, I could do (most of) the work fine - if I could get there. It takes me a good few minutes to stand from a sitting position, I can walk but slowly - it's the journey that worries me, specifically the 15 minute walk uphill from the station to the office. I don't get paid sick leave till I've been there a year, but that isn't my concern really.

  11. Jobcentre clearly doesn't know their arse from their elbow. They complain they haven't had my P45, even though they sent me a new one the other week and they say they are stopping my claim because I didn't sign on. Even though I signed off a month ago. Very annoyed!

I've had to claim JSA at two seperate times. Both times, I found my next job myself - they were next to useless for me too.

  16. has suprisingly been given permission to turn an unused shelf into a photo plank/diorama for the lounge wall. I'd be rude not to take advantage of this unexpected development!

I'm sure that it's just that, as mentioned, 'something pretty' on the wall is more socially acceptable than framed photos of a sadly defunct football ground, murdered by a certain businessman who will, karma willing, still end his days atop a bonfire just like the song says...!

I think her ladyship would rather have a nice rural scene on the wall, even if it may have a train of some kind on it, than my mounted photos of the Goldstone Ground from 1997 ;)

A blast from a spray can (I use Railmatch Sleeper Grime, but suspect there are alternatives!) , a wipe of the rail tops immediatley afterwards with the absorbent side of an offcut of cork and the job's a goodun!
