  1. I'm intrigued by this helicon focus business - must get around to giving a go. I agree wholedheartedly, some of the old glass was fantastic - a shame really that work went over to canon and i lost access to my old nikon stuff, you're dead right the 35 and 85 primes were awesome. Couldn't agree more - there are no longtermers in digi, cameras die and go and are not remembered with any great fondness whereas i miss my fm2 and RB, and even on masochistic days a 5x4 sinar. Hohumm progress eh?

  2. Always intriguing to see other people's solutions. Personally I use a 055 CF with the centre turned horizontal as in your pic and a set of counter weights (made from some switch spacer blocks - came free on a recovery job :D and can be slotted onto the legs and jammed there if i forget the clamps). To get into the deluxe anorak mode..... is that the 28-70 AFS? Thats one of the reasons I regret going over to Canon, lovely glass. Know what you mean about manfroto's build quality though: dodgy castings :(

    Cheers again

  3. Looking forward to seeing this progress - scale mice perhaps?

It is reassuring that its not just our cat that assesses peoples attention needs based upon the timesincelastvisit to fridge/cupboard/oven formula and decides that if your failing that you need close supervision within 2' of your nose - way to go Fleur (and Chris too)

Never mind the sad terminal history of the brewery...... what did the beer taste like?

    All the best

  4. So often in this place I see work that practically makes my jaw dislocate with the level of work, skill and attention. Your main layout build has been frankly stunning but for a "fiddler" like me so far in the stratosphere that I know I could never attain that level of fidelity - with the signal box however you are working with something I can relate to and I'm not overwhelmed by. Frankly WOW. With this I could see my self progressing along this route at some point. Thank you for sharing this with us and reveleaing the proccess tobe not so intimidating after all.

I wish I'd made it south this year to see the progress but will content myself with your updates.

Thanks for taking the time to share.

  5. i hate to say it, but i have to agree. A very valid point here....... given the high standard of your scenic work its produced an image strong enough to stand alone without the usual bimbo distraction of the "big metal lumps". Much more tantalising. More please. How feasible would it be through manipulation of background and lighting to suggest different weather..... am i alone in finding that the railway in image and model exists only on sunny days with occasional forays into snow or evening gloom when reality suggest the amount of time with adverse weather outweighs the halcyon presentation. This is in no way a criticism of your outstanding work, more of a possible challenge?

thanks again for sharing and provoking my brain cell to life.
