  1. Grime Time..... Instead of just a usual pass sprayover with Railmatch Weathered Black I decided to spray then remove / wash in with thinners to allow the concrete base to show. Not a usual method which had its moments including the plasticard grid covers lifting due to excess thinners. Buildings temporarily added with WILLS barriers - looking at bit exposed at present without the finer detailing parts but getting there. Plenty of bits on order - also financial constraints due to a heavy eBay session.....
  2. On Preston Station early this morning waiting for 55022 passing LE from Bury ELR to Carnforth and hopefully catching a 60 on the Lindsay Oil Tanks..... 70006 was rostered for the Basford to Carlisle Engineers - a half decent machine - all good fun - Thought the Network Rail depot opposite looked familiar with derelict 1970's brick platelayers style buildings and the usual Portacabins / Linesides with Steel security fencing.
  3. Constructed the newish WILLS lineside relay boxes as a change from the usual ones.... All in all a very good product.
  4. 28" X 13" MDF on a frame base. Ian
  5. Cant see how I have missed your thread in the past - good work and very well observed David - more plagarism for myself..... B&W photos excellent. Yes lights to be added around the FP also Express bufferbeam stop light on order.
  6. Drybrushing of concrete hardstanding to give a dusted effect. Shelter (Gel Superglued) and temporarily added - pumps screen and detailing next. Oil staining of sleepers and spill areas tomorrow - electrics then foilage - lights and trees which are on order.
  7. Railmatch 1206 Rail Grey it has still to be drybrushed to give it a "dusty" appearence then oilstained in places. Ian
  8. Track ballasted between the hard standings which have been sprayed near simulated concrete and masked ready for spraying. Ballast sprayed masking removed - drying off overnight ready for drybrushing all areas then Weathered Black sprayed and washed into the tracks and over the centre pits later tomorrow. Buildings - Container added as a trial - getting there.......!
  9. Looking the finished object - all power on Neil? how many are Soundchipped?
  10. Th embankments on this layout are mainly to give more height when I add Trees and Foilage One and a half Inch by quarter inch wood strip around the side stood on edge and glued down with "No Nails" Cardboard (Carling Lager 12 can pack) cut in strips to suit areas and corners and tacked in to the wood on the top. Card bent down glued with "No Nails" to form embankment and tacked into place until dry - remove tacks when set. Plaster filler added to give texture - moisture of the filler sometimes soaks and forms the cardboard to give "undulations" The embankments will be grassed and foilage clumped then tree lined with Sea Moss trees from International models Ian
  11. I have seen far too many images of Ipswich with associated Freightliner 47 / 57 Not based on Ipswich or anywhere in particular - just a generalized perception of what I have seen on visits and in publications. 2 Helly 47 Fliners in the pipeline at present - hopefully with bodyshells intact....
  12. Slight change. One track has been extended to run through the layout - changed mind after adding the embankments.... The Fuel Storage Tanks act as an excellent scenic break. Fiddle Yards at both ends to allow various stock to "run through" for fuelling.
  13. Excellent work - you must have a lot of patience! - attempting finer detail scratchbuilds like this drives me bonkers
  14. Centre Fuelling Shelter partially built - leant against.a dusty bufferless Rf 37 ongoing detailing project. A bit early - but experimenting with a few usual detail parts and buildings.
  15. Look at the Second Photo down with the LH 60 - on the table (that needs creosote BTW......) in shot there is plasticard sheeting chequerplate - cut it into strips and glue. Depicts redundant pits that I saw somewhere but cant remember where Sourced from Mark at Transport Models Preston - on the web and mail order if your stuck for some. tell him Ian informed you as I need the discount.
  16. Plated Code 75 Inspection pits / hardstanding sunk into baseboard - Bachmann Stoarage Tanks sourced Lineside Hut and modified Knightwing fuelling shelter for single road added although this is subject to change. Scenic Break building Gas tank / Compressor Aerial View - Compact
  17. Coming on well backscenes make a lot of difference - what happened to your boxfile featured in Model Rail - always liked the shot through the doors into the Engineering works - could do with a copy if possible.
  18. Yes Bac cabins well good - etched ladders a bonus.
  19. Yes quite minimal but high in detail just something to keep coming back to while we consider the next garage tailchaser - got to keep this one on the small side or divorce proceedings will ensue.....
  20. Due to the completion and selling of CT (Castleton) I am attempting to faithfully model a fuelling point based generally on somewhere but nowhere in particular.I have detracted from naming it after "Street" or "Road" as it has become tedious even trying to think up a name that sounds vaguely correct and is not a real place. The layout is my own perception of EWS - LOADHAUL late Sectorisation fuelling operations based on images and past experiences of what I have seen and visited over the years but not necessarily 100% prototypical. Partially covered Inspection Pits (PECO Code 75) General View
  21. "Grime and Industry" Sounds good - railways are rarely clean places. Good to see you are back in action - Any images of your new stock? Ian
  22. DEMU at Burton June 12th - Probably the best Exhibition of the year.
  23. Better stock up on the Express Lighting kits then.....
  24. Yes - in reality on some sheds not a great lot happens....... it is the fine line between reality and boredom - I can stand and examine a layout such as this for a while if the attention to detail is quality. Bee Lane by Preston and District is a very good layout but totally wrong in operation with endless tailchasing although the rolling stock on display is excellent - you have to keep the masses entertained after all that is what the majority come to exhibitions for. As for RM haven't bought it for years too many ads I suppose - prefer Rail Express with the excellent "free" modelling supplement but will give it a once over this month. Looking forward to the DEMU - AT THE TOWN HALL - this June to see it again Ian
  25. (1) My method..... stuff Templot! lifes too short..... (2) Been there worn the T-Shirt. (3) Or Scenic break. Thanks - will follow with interest - Ian
