  1. Second the Morley - excellent product for the price with built in CDU for turnouts as well

    DC or DCC.

If DC divide your layout into a number of sections such as branch line, Depot Entry, Depot headshunt, up main, down main and use DPDT or Rotary Switches to connect the sections to one of two or more controllers. One controller per section is very 1960s childs train set MO.

In my experience the Morley and OnTrack controllers have the best walkround hand held units with leads up to 3 metres and very light handhelds which have only 3 wires and only a potentiometer in the housing, they don't get hot and the lead pulls out of the DIN connector if you tread on it.

A two track Morley with two handheld slaves should be adequate if you only want to run two trains max simultaneously

  2. According to the website, Platform Models closed on 5th August. However, they also announced that the guys next door from Model Railway Solutions would be continuing the business and MRS announced on their website that they intended to open on 4th September. So, there should be something there although I haven't yet been to confirm. Perhaps it might be sensible to phone ahead to check? MRS 01202798068.

  3. Oh dear, I thought they weren't being released until later this month. I do hope it was a demonstration model only, otherwise I might have had to down the decorating tools and pop up to collect mine.

Only the body was on show- no chassis fitted.

  4. Hi,

I go to Wells most years and I agree it's always an enjoyable show with some great layouts and traders. The location of the venue means that other members of the family are very happy to come along for a few hours of retail therapy and lunching whilst I visit the show so a win/win! I know it's easy for me to say, having been many times, but the car park direction signs seemed pretty clear and well located. I was caught out by the £3.00 parking charge yesterday though. It does say clearly on the Railwells website and in the first post of this topic (so not misinformation from the Railway Modeller) that car parking was free on the Sunday so I was surprised to find a chap on the gate collecting. I didn't query it at the time as I assumed I must have read the website incorrectly but I've checked since and it's quite clear. Clearly I'm not worried about the £3.00 but would be interesting to know how the confusion arose and I hope the money went to the Wells Railway Fraternity and not the owner of the field!

It was for the car boot sale.

  5. Depends on orders and if a Chinese holiday falls during the lead time- been out of dealing with China for a couple of years now so can't remember dates

I thought it was reported as much further ahead than that now.
