  1. Second that-remember the line before BR closure. Steve
  2. The increase of cats locally has disuaded most birds around here-except pigeons. All they do is S*** on Mrs DW's washing. Also get p****d off having to check the garden every time the grandchildren come for cat mess- why don't their owners take responsibility? Steve
  3. Saves buying a new sheet of transfers for every wagon. As to representation the engines are all driven by electricity- and its representative of what I remember without absolute fidelity to prototype which I doubt if everyone can remember 50 years ago in unquestionable clarity. Steve
  4. Still are at christchurch- on Avon Trading Estate- preservation order on them IIRC. Steve
  5. For future reference have a look at Connisseur Models web site, there are many downloads for building this type of kit- and very useful and informative they are. Steve
  6. My 3mm version- reduced from 7mm Connessieur kit- fictitious number and all. Steve
  7. Cheaper alternative is PECO Hom, metre gauge at 12mm width- more readily available in UK but it is a compromise. Steve
  8. Original BTTB track was pressed tin and not compatible with any thing else- prone to rust and poor conections- look for the later tillig track. Steve
  9. Wash it in a bowl- not the sink, bits can become dislodged. Steve
  10. I have had some as ground cover under some trees for about six years and no sign of mould or disintigration up till now. Steve
  11. Don't let me be misunderstood-Nina Simone

  16. Working in 3mm- I did have a brief sojourn into Berlinner TT Bahnen. I aquired a factory built layout together with several steam and diesel locos and rolling stock. Technically it was a wonderful layout and the scenics were great. Unfortunately I sold it and the new owners first job was to destroy the scenics which ultimately saw its demise as he tried to enlarge the track plan and got it wrong! Superb running- exhibited it a couple of times- must look for the photos sometime. The BTTB label was displayed under the baseboard- I wonder if any others are in existance? Steve
  17. Having run a 3mm Area Group for several years, it would seem that the willingness to impart knowledge is boundless. It is getting people to participate. No matter that all model railway is basically the same with a different scale ruler. The great thing about 3mm for me is the fact that I have built it -with help in some cases- myself, and this is the most satisfying thing. The satisfaction of seeing my creations run far outweigh taking something out of a box, the reason why I stopped 4mm some while ago. Sadly, it would seem, few wish to build or learn how to despite offering to hold teach ins to help. But the wishlists keep coming when there is often a kit available for their particular want.Plus there is a commonly held misconception that a fully fitted workshop and myriad of tools are needed-They are not. One of our goup has converted Class 31 diesels to 14.2 mm gauge with little more than a few files and a cordless drill held in a vice and a lot of patience- it can be done. We will keep our small group going and exhibiting our layouts. The plans for the 3mm Society 50th anniversary are well in hand so that means several early morning starts and nights away not to mention finishing those promised exhibits. Steve
  18. Colin- look forward to seeing some of the buildings at our next meeting. Looks good Steve
