  1. Now with paint. Railmatch Donny Green & Weathered Black. Needs the cab doing next image Cheers
  2. I do indeed Mark. I'm currently drawing up the plans on the computer so I can print a cardboard mockup to help me get my head around how to build the thing. Cheers
  3. Hi Gary, thanks for looking in. I look forward to seeing your K4! I'm a bit sick of the sight of them now having done 3 & am looking forward to getting on with the NB 0-6-0 types that you have done so well. I've had a rethink on the layout & I'm now doing Fort William. I was reading one of my West Highland books & the operation of the station seemed quite interesting with the cramped layout & the J36 pilots shuffling round, it should give me a bit more activity than the passing stations & be easier to fit in the loft as well. Only 2 turnouts to build too! Cheers
  4. Well, the summer is passing & the mojo is returning. First job is to finish K4 number 3, set to be No. 3445 MacCailin Mor in Apple Green. Boiler mainly done here, with handrail knobs fitted but smokebox door just bluetacked on for the picture. The chassis is waiting for it's donor Hornby L1 wheels to be fitted. image image Cheers
  5. I agree - I'm currently eyeing up the pleasing curves of the line into Fort William station! Lovely stuff Will
  6. Great stuff so far! I love the meandering trackwork away from the station.

    Hornby P2

They were ahead of the cylinders
  9. is building a big round test track

  10. went for a look at Rannoch station....& then a K4 & Black 5 appeared, which was nice.

  11. Cheers. No the P2 is an irresistible diversion that'll probably just sit on a shelf. I've been visiting West Highland stations today to take a few photos, so the mojo is fully restocked for when I get home.

    Hornby P2

I've just checked my Gresley Observer P2 book & you're interpretation of the photos looks correct to me. It also looks to me like 2001 kept its odd handrails after streamlining.

    Hornby P2

Hi all. I got Bachmann V2 valve gear & cylinders through the post today so I thought I'd post an update on my version of the Earl. Please note all paint is gloss so it makes my iffy paintwork look even iffier(?) Cylinders & Deflectors are just bluetacked on to get a feel for how things look. Still much to do including more lining (inc wheels) & a little valve gear butchery. Cheers
  14. Fence panel down

We're the Marines - we never leave a fence panel behind!

  15. The sun came out today so I grabbed an outdoors shot of Glen Roy. Work continues on the P2 conversion. Lining is 80% done I'd say so I should have something worth looking at be the end of tomorrow! Cheers
  16. Gem D34 Glen Roy. Construction details on my workbench & blog. Cheers
  17. Glen Roy now largely done. Smith's couplings have been attached & it was then weathered with aerosols, dry brushed enamels & powders. Spectacle glass is Glue N Glaze. I hope to get some better photos in real daylight at the weekend. Next jobs: 1. Finish the P2 (which is glossed & ready for transfers) 2. Get on with my K4 mk3 3. Make some sort of layout progress!! Cheers
  18. Ah, my lack of observation lets me down yet again! I'm amazed by the amount of variation in the group 'standard' tenders. Cheers Will
  19. V2 looks excellent! I've never seen a group standard tender with such a high rear coal plate. Is it a quirk of the kit or were some LNER tenders like that? Cheers Will
  20. Thats kind of you cheers. Crianlarich is now the medium term plan. At least I know it fits in the loft though (with compromises) & I have the templot plan there when I'm ready to start. It had crossed my mind though to start a bit smaller considering this will be my first layout with hand-built track, so I'm eyeing up Fort Augustus Pier station on a 6' x 2' board. Only 4 turnouts required & only 2 buildings so hopefully I should be able to get it done with out getting bogged down & have somewhere to run my West Highland locos. Cheers Will
  21. Glen 95% done. A bit of touching up, glazing, weathering & coal needed Pictured with future partner in crime 'Loch Rannoch' Will
