  1. Thanks very much for the quick reply, I'll give them a go.
  2. Sorry if I've missed this, I do follow the thread as best I can, but were the non-sound decoders that were being done (to the same specs as the sound (minus sound of course)) released? Happy to wait if not, just don't want to miss them. Thanks in advance for any replies
  3. In fairness to York it was actually Doncaster Works that painted the frames back into blue just prior to the Railex Weekend (17/18 June 1978) when she was touched up as a static exhibit. There's a lovely shot of her there on the Napier Chronicles website. It took her nearly another 18 months from then to escape the Works and very nearly didn't make it. The post announcing this variation references 4 Deltics to have had this treatment, 55006 I know was one, I'm 99% sure 55002 was the third, but not sure of the 4th. The silver frames definitely add something though, here's No 6 at Kings Cross in 1978.
  4. I'll echo this sentiment to add a little more 'noise'. I model the Eastern Region BR Blue 1975 - 1982ish. I have 7 Deltic's with 3 more on order, I have 9 Class 31's on order (a few duplicates for renumbering in there) but by comparison, of the 2 batches of 37's released/announced, only 2 have been in my timeframe. Would love to see more.
  5. They're exclusive to Locomotion Models, this link should take you there Not sure how you post a link in here, but if you google Locomotion Models and go to the exclusives page, that'd where they are
  6. This is great news! I've been waiting for a blue 31/0 for what feels like a lifetime! I spent a lot of time when I was growing up on Stratford station during the 70's watching these trundle through.
  7. Mine didn't, I ordered a speaker a couple of months ago, in readiness for the sound decoders, expecting to see the brackets included, but was advised a bit of blacktack will hold it in place.
  8. This is excellent news, Just pre-ordered the 3 blue ones. I remember both 4 and 6 being distinctive with the unpainted window surrounds, number 2 I think as well (though could be wrong, it was a long time ago) but which was the 4th? I'm curious.
  9. Would anyone know where I might find a list of the 31's fitted with trip cock equipment? The original post mentions there were 61 of them. Thanks in advance.
  10. I model the ECML during the late 70's/early 80's so have a licence to run these on test trains following refurbishment at Doncaster Works, but when I saw it was 50006 Neptune being modelled in blue it sealed it for me. I will be able to re-create this scene at York on 17th October 1981. The Deltic on the left is 55021 and is about come off the train, a special called The Minsterman, with 50006 replacing her to go onwards. On the right is 55013 which took us home on the 18.14 to Kings Cross a little later.
  11. Thank you! Worked an absolute treat! Funnily enough this is the method I use for Bachmann loco's and I tentatively tried it on the Deltic but was so worried about scratching the paintwork off, as happened with a Heljan 27, that I abandoned it after only a couple of very light passes with a cocktail stick in favour of the IPA method. I now have No 9 in mid 70's condition which is how I first saw her (to complete them all) aptly enough 46 years ago today at the head of what I think was the 23.00 paper train to Leeds/Bradford at Kings Cross. We'd popped into Kings Cross to see what was there after coming back from a trip to Tinsley to see the first of the Class 56's. Happy days.
  12. Hiya, Yes the lighting functions on the non-sound decoder work as per the sound decoder and headcode, tail and cab lights work directionally as expected. I had a little trial of the F8 brake but it made no discernible difference from what I could see so I think that's a sound function only. The stay alive feature works straight out of the box as well which I think wasn't the case with the original sound decoders though still need to test the one I have. I'm also after a little bit of help again too, I've made a not particularly great attempt at removing the number of a blue one, I followed the instructions of IPA with 6% water dilution as shown on the video - though my 6% was rule of thumb than exact (not sure how to get that exactly right?) and whilst the number came off, the blue has been noticeably lightened. The video shows the paintwork unaltered from what I could see. I've stopped at one side as I don't want to risk ruining the loco completely..... Again any tips as to what I might try would be greatly appreciated.
  13. I assumed that was for the sound decoder I'll give it a try tomorrow and see if I get anywhere Thank you very much for the reply, it's much appreciated.
  14. I've just received the Accurascale Deltic decoders for my non-sound Deltics and fitted a couple but, apart from the headcode and desk lights, no other lights seem to come on. The loco's move fine, much better than before I have to say, the starting and slow speed is excellent. I assumed functions 1, 2, 3, etc would switch on the tail lights, cabs, etc but it doesn't seem to happen. I had other decoders in the Deltics before tonight which worked ok with the lights so the locos are ok and I tried 2 different Deltic decoders in 2 different Deltics so I think it's most likely something I'm missing, not doing or doing wrong. I looked at the Accurascale support pages and the lighting function list shows AUX1 and AUX2, etc. Are these different from the function buttons? Any help gratefully received so thanks in advance.
  15. I did see somewhere within this thread that Accurascale are planning on selling non-sound ESU decoders programmed specifically for the Deltic's, so if you're planning on swapping out your Zimo ones it might be worthwhile waiting on these, that's my plan at least.
  16. Wishlisting for Batch 2 55013 with grey roof circa May 80 55008 in blue with domino headcodes Any in blue TOPS with plated headcodes, but a FP one would be ideal for renumbering without having to scrape the nameplate off Any FP racehorse in blue and white windows
  17. Ahhh right, the switches are on the blanking plates, which you take out to fit the decoder, that explains why I can't see them.... I did say I wasn't all that technically minded, sorry. I use F11 to switch the tail lamps on, that works, but only in one direction, when I change direction, the tail lamps don't change to the other end. I'm using the ESU 59629 LokPIlot decoders and NCE Pro Cab, I don't know if that makes any difference. It's all 4 loco's so I know I must have something configured wrong, I just don't know what. Thanks for the superfast reply, especially at this time of the evening
  18. Sorry, it's me again and I'm still struggling to get the red tail lamps to work properly, they work in one direction only and don't swap to the other end when I change direction, the headcode lights do.... So the LokPilot 59629 decoders arrived today and they are behaving in the exact same way. Tail lamps work in one direction only, if I change direction I have headcode and tail lamps at the same end. All I can think is maybe the DC light switches need to be changed? I couldn't see them by just removing the magnetic roof, so I removed the entire body and I still can't see them. I'm attaching a pic, can anyone point them out to me? Is it that I can't see them for looking? Any help is very gratefully received.
  19. Hiya, Thank you and the others for the replies I have had on this. I'm not very technically minded and up to this point it looks like I've been very lucky that all the decoders I've fitted have been simply plug in and play, body removal difficulties on some loco's notwithstanding of course. I have occasionally changed some of the CV settings to smooth the acceleration/braking here and there but mostly haven't needed to. I've now ordered 59629 versions as recommended above and hoping I will find homes in as yet unbought loco's for the now redundant 59659 versions, can never have enough decoders right? 66's are out of my 75-82ish timeline though. Thanks again for all the replies, they are very much appreciated. I am going to take the opportunity, whilst I am writing, of adding some further praise for these loco's, I was a little dubious of the magnetic roof, just how it would look, would the fact that it was a separate removable piece be too obvious. I need not have worried, very impressive and innovative idea executed flawlessly. And I am not sure what it is, but in addition to the accuracy and attention to detail, these have that indescribable 'presence' Deltics just somehow have, even sitting motionless and silent, it is palpable. I have 4, another 4 on the way and will be getting all 22 as and when they are released in the timeline liveries I need.
  20. Hoping someone can help with me this. The first four of a total of eight arrived today, so I know it's something I'm doing wrong rather than a fault. I have removed the blanking plug and fitted an ESU Lok Pilot 5 21 MTC MKL 59659 decoder to each. They run lovely but I am having an issue with the lights. With the headlights switched off they come on anyway when the loco first has power supplied and after a second switch off again. If I switch them on with F0, they are fine. What I am struggling with though is the tail lights, F11 switches them on/off but only at one end (they are noted as being directional in the instructions) but they don't switch to the other end when I reverse direction, the headlights do. Like I say, I have fitted 4 and all are working in this manner so I am clearly doing something wrong, I am just not sure what. Any help or suggestions gratefully received and thanks in advance. PS These absolutely outstanding models!
  21. The Accurascale Deltics will slowly replace my current Bachmann ones, not be in addition to, so I shall withdraw the Bachmann version when the new Accurascale ones arrive. Primarily though I just want to be sure the decoders I get in readiness for the arrival of the loco's will be able to work all the non-sound functions and I wasn't sure if the Bachmann decoders would be up to that or not. I do have a sound version on order but sound isn't something I use for day to day running, so paying the additional to have each one with sound wouldn't really be worth it for me. Thanks everyone for the replies, i've got a much better idea of what I am looking for now,
  22. HI, Hoping someone might be able to help me with some advice. I have a few of these on order and plan on replacing my current Deltic fleet over time and my notes tell me I have a mix of Bachmann 36-553, 36-554 and 36-557 DCC decoders fitted to these. I am not very tech savvy though my layout is entirely DCC controlled and I need to know if I can simply swap the current decoders to the Accurascale Deltics or will I need to get different ones? Thanks in advance for any replies
  23. I am right in thinking that domino's are included in the headcode version and vice versa? I'm sure I've seen that's the case
