  1. There is some debate if it is D6705 or D6707 that was going to be the third one, I have seen both numbers quoted.
  2. I recall it was because of the reasons you suggested
  3. I have made a few SP kits over the years, Yes the ordering experience is a bit 198s but it is quick enough. Obviously the range is slowly getting picked off by mainstream manufacturers but models like the Newton Chambers car carrier are unlikely to get duplicated and are worth purchasing.
  4. 37350 was named, it carried the National Railway Museum nameplates: https://www.flickr.com/photos/47843_vulcan/15020395293/in/photolist-oTisdD-QJEFwS-bAZ8SF-bdbBSF-nAdA6B-nygjNC-GBf8Yf-JWe2gc-dBMaRU-okpyyb-cQffSu-bV3FaT-UPnNa5-gpMb3b-cKkBzU-p36ExW-dRy3Qc-dQLc6y-fV4bC2-nA4L5C-qgWiij-nwQPB9-2aeiJ7T-c6ekYC-p36EBy-9LfPHV-cTGdLU-aAFx5K-hkjhBU-n4YXSi-q6jVAv-dKQuMg-mn7DY2-cKkB6U-etHbuK-nuJumT-qPnumq-gmd5bg-etLt8Q-dPr17d-217pANf-fWiGEo-7z4d2W-EoSyAE-i14kY1-etLkrW-dRy3ga-aNFU2P-bVvE2k-aNFJ5R

  6. Hi, thanks for sharing. The Finsbury park one was a slightly different variant, my model is based on one of the ones built by the southern region on old 20t wagon chassis. There is a thread on here about them, will find the link when I am not on the mobile version of the site.
  7. Always been a fan of your layouts Chris, nicely done.
  8. Excellent, Thanks Fran will get my order in for 55022.
  9. Hi Fran, I have looked but I haven't found a definitive answer anywhere, will you be doing the different nose step on 55022? I understand if it is a variant too far, I want to do 55022 in 1977 so will either back date the model you are releasing of 55022 if the nose step is correct or buy a variant in the right colour scheme and then modify the step/repaint the yellow end but could do with a steer so I know which route to choose?
  10. Hi, if it is the stuff I think it is I haven't seen it tried on a layout so can't comment on it's durability.
  11. Don't go there, It breaks up with age with disastrous consequences, It also looks rubbish compared to properly ballasted track..
  12. We ventured round to my Mum and Dad's on Saturday and to the amusement of my wife and Kids, my parents had the family photo albums out. My Dad is a steam enthusiast so there are quite a few train pictures in the albums, including some from the steam trains that ran on the Portishead line as part of the GWR 150 in 1985. In the album I managed to find this shot of Parson Street with Malago Vale visible in the background (and yours truly as a 7 year old in the foreground). Sadly there weren't any better photos of the carriage sidings themselves.
  13. The blurred image on the front of the 2019 catalogue on the rails website looks suspiciously like a sealed beam class 45 to me....
  14. If I were sat in Bachmann HQ I would be concerned about the erosion of my market share from new players (including Hattons) picking off my volume/margin by introducing competing/ better models to that Bachmann currently produce. Ultimately the Hattons 66 is being funded by sales of products from Bachmann amongst others so it seems logical to cease supply to them when you have many other sales outlets. Bearing in mind lots of modellers purchases will involve multiple manufacturer products which need to be posted, splitting of orders between retailers incurs extra postage etc so I fear Hattons will lose out on more than just the Bachmann sales.
  15. I did the same, Model Railways direct are now my box shifter of choice.
  16. LOL, just the running qualities tested today, for the first time in 20 years I appear to have no spare buffer beam pipes in the spares box so will have to wait for another day..
  17. I have decided on the position of the buildings, the water tank will move to the building by the bridge with the boiler house I built being saved for a future layout: The garage has had some enamel signs added to the back wall, I will probably need to sort some lights for the garage as the interior is not really that visible: The steam heating van was given a test run now it is nearly finished (the steam heat pipe is missing!)
  18. A Steam heating van sits in the headshunt awaiting it's next heating job at Parsons Vale carriage siding. The model is a Parkside chassis with scratchbuilt body using bits of Bachmann MK1 BSK.
  19. Having watched that excellent video, I think motorising any vehicle is doable, you just need to accept the limitilations compared to the faller or RC options. Magnorail looks great for the right layout, sadly mine will always be too small for this or the Faller system.
  20. Hopefully Accurascale will up scale the 4mm version....
  21. My dad owns a sunbeam 90 and I am well acquainted with the rust locations. Key places are bottom of the doors especially, the sills just in front of the wheelarches and under the headlights.

  23. Yes that is correct, Sunbeam 90 Mk3 in front. My dad's one used to be this colour scheme before he bought it but someone had resprayed it 2 tone green that it still wears today.
  24. Sounds great Rob, look forward to seeing it. One of my favourite small Parcel train layouts is Westonmouth Central, IIRC it only had one point on it but looked good fun to operate.
