  1. Good afternoon all.

Sorry to bother you all but i purchased one of these USA tank's and whilst looking at the enclosed instructions, i noticed that inside the ' bag of bits ' something that looks like two boards or whatever they are. (number 1 & 2 in pink on the instruction sheet)

Does anyone know what they are and what their purpose is / was  please ?

    Many thanks for any replies.

  2. Good afternoon all.

I ordered some DCC items from Wickness models and I'm flabbergasted at the speed my item arrived :O

The speed, customer service etc..... has to be up there in my top three for fantastic model shops.

    Can't recommend them enough.

Well done Wickness if you are on here, keep up the good work. :imsohappy:

  3. I had never heard of Derails before until I scoured the network for a Bachmann 64xx and spotted on on their website.

Only took a couple days, free postage and it arrived today so well packed too.

I heartily recommend Derails for those that have not ordered from them etc.

A fantastic service and they keep you updated on the progress of your order too.

  4. Get them sent seperatly several days apart, then you can say you sent the first one back, the second parcel is its replacement.

That Colin, that is a jolly good idea..............i better ring Kernow and hopefully they can help me out  ?   :help:

I can hide 'other' in amoungst other loco's i have ! :secret:

Try a "business trip"/detox health spa/retreat to a place of holy orders/fishing trip to Cornwall/acting lessons with RSC.........

Like your thinking Mr Hargrave, i'll think of something if she does ever find out, i really don't want to look like a Panda bear with a couple of black eyes....... thank you :thankyou:

  5. Ordered 74 010 today :imsohappy:  ...........only one small problem i can foresee, how in hell's bell's name do i expain two Class 74's arriving on the doorstep to the 'boss' ? :scratchhead: (she only know's about one 74 i bought, the other one she doesn't know about, she might have a mental fit if she finds out)

I need to think of a good excuse or i'll be in the dark brown smelly stuff otherwise and i certainly don't wish to wake up in the morning with my gentleman's vegetables floating in a glass of water next to my bedside !!! :O

  6. Dave has just announced, on the 71 thread, that the crowd-funding offer for both the 71 and the 74 ends this Sunday 10th July, at midnight. After that, it will be full RRP for any more orders or sales. He does not state an expected delivery date though, or final order numbers for either the 71 or the 74.

Thanks for that Mike, most kind of you to tell me,  i'm going to order another 74 tomorrow but not sure which one yet ?

I might stretch an extra tenner and get 74010 :locomotive:

Fingers crossed that both of them arrive before xmas day :good:

  7. Perspective......£300 buys you a meal for two In Some of the restraunts round ere or 10 mins with a high class call girl.

There's a girl from Redruth way who would spend the week with you, even as a railway modeller and you got change out of £50 note.

Not to be a tight fisted git here but it's even cheaper if you use your right hand then you can buy one of these wonderful 4TC's ! :man_in_love_mini:

Seriously, this is fantastic news, i've waited years for a company to make one of these 4TC's. :yahoo:

All i need now is the news for a REP. :locomotive:

Someone mentioned about a 33/1 and two 4TC's being the limit..................i seem to recall reading somewhere that when leaving weymouth, the driver would switch off the train heating to get the extra bit of juice to power up towards dorchester, how true that is i don't know ?

Thank you Kernow for this 4TC :thankyou:

  8. I'm hoping to save up for this wonderful looking locomotive, then place my order for it.

I only ever saw two in the BR days.

One at Eastleigh and the other fratton / pompy way back in the late 70's.

Fingers crossed it doesn't go up to much in price.

    Good luck Dave with these

  9. For my Heljan class 33, i used two old so called 'loyalty cards' from supermarkets.

I filed one end of each at an angle (75 degrees roughly) so they could get between the body & the chassis easily.   It works all the time that i have to remove bodies (model ones, not humans) :jester:

Very carefully & gently, you can remove the body, but do not force it to much...............for obvious reasons.

    Good luck

  10. Fantastic shop Buffers.

More helpful than some of the other shop's I can tell you.

When I purchase items, the staff enter the items on their computer and give you points.

You can then redeem your points towards p & p, other items etc, fantastic !

Buffers are the only ones I have come across that do the points thing.

Fast delivery as some of you say, cannot fault Buffers, well, i could if i'm honest.......to many cups of tea and by the time I'm have way home, my bladder is ready to burst !!!!

Great model shop, highly recommend it.

  11. I too am building a model of Bailey Gate in the early 1960s period.  So far I've only laid and wired track (DCC), there's no buildings or scenery yet because I may move home and have much more room for a less squashed layout, but all the points and sidings etc are there.  Most of my time has been spent building up a collection of the correct locos and rolling stock, I've certainly renumbered a couple of dozen locos.

My Mac Hawkins book has the track plan map (no 18) on page 265.  This is the 1936 map, so doesn't have the later additions.  I got the later additions from the commonly available (online) signal box type diagram, see attachment below.  As far as I can see this has an error at the top in that it shows the line that goes to the dairy siding as 'forking'  whereas it should just be as the 1936 map (the fork shouldn't be there ?).  However, if you just add the new Unigate 'loop siding' from this signal box diagram to the 1936 map it will be correct (I think).  I have verified this by studying loads and loads of photos and videos.  Ok, you cant get the dimensions of the Unigate 'loop siding' from this but the track plan should be correct

    Spot on Combe Martin.

The fork is the problem as you said. :jester:

Years ago, i met a bloke whom had this original signal box 'map' & he also had the WC 34107 Blandford Forum name plates too.

Interesting chap to talk too he was.

If only the Mac Hawkins map was say 1950's onwards, i wouldn't be scratching my head so much lol   :scratchhead:
