The livery descriptions are a bit vague on some of the later models, no mention of whether they have the white lining or are just black/orange.
-
- Five-Pole motor with two flywheels
- Metal Helical Gear box for maximum performance and slow speed running
- Gearing arranged so locomotive can achieve a scale top speed of 100 mph
- DCC ready with 21pin interface
I hope that it is arranged so that it can obtain a prototypical top speed, not just 100mph.
Deltics were well capable of speeds over 120 and were recorded doing so.

Yes, but that's not the point. The post said that they didn't make a correct 8 window 2D, not that a batch had been produced incorrectly.
-
Correct 8 window Blue/Grey Mk2d TSO rather than the 7 window FO dressed up as a TSO. (Although with the imminent arrival of the Bachmann Mk2f' TSO's this may now be rather after the event.)
Where on earth did you get this nonsense from? The Hornby Mk2D TSO has 8 windows, always has had. It was the old Mk3 that had 7 vice 8 windows and that was put right several years ago.

None of the links in your signature lead to your workbench thread.

Let there be light!
First batch....
Are they working headlights?
Yes indeed.
Where do you get the headlights from? Are they a readily available product or do you make them yourself from mini LEDs?

Who cares what the reasoning is behind the voting?
JUST VOTE H
I think your finger slipped there, should have hit the key one to the left.
ps I voted by sending an email, this allows you to be more specific on quantities. I specified different quantities depending on whether one or both were produced (G/H).

It gets worse, now it says the delivery date is Tuesday 28 August.
Having gone to considerable inconvenience to be at home today I am very much not impressed.
and to cap it all I wasn't intending to be at home next Tuesday either, another day trip cancelled.

The courier company are pants.
I followed the link, which said that my parcel was last recorded as having been received and in Derby yesterday at 10:18.
Today, clicked the link again and got last recorded as being in Derby at 12:04 today!!

Got a message this morning saying mine should be delivered tomorrow.. I'll be watching out of the window looking for the van.

As girlinb says, they were delivered new with the deeper side windows so the footplate crew could set and retrieve tokens from the apparatus in the recess below. Gradually the equipment was removed (perhaps some were never fitted ?)
The first batch were fitted with tablet catcher equipment.
The second batch starting at D8070 were not fitted, they just had empty recesses. As far as I am aware, none of them ever received catchers, but I may be wrong. Cue someone posting a phot of one.....
ps Bachmann made a model of a second batch member incorrectly fitted with catchers.
-
D5300-19 were built without tablet catchers, D5320 up all had tablet catchers. D5319 was later modified and fitted with tablet catchers, but the rest of the batch never had catchers.
-
I remember having a short cab ride in a peak at Sheffield Midland when the driver decided that I could stay aboard while he picked up a buffet car from the middle road and put it back on the front of the train. This was a fairly common way of maximising buffet car use, only having one in the train for part of the journey.

Not for electrics just yet, not enough wires in place.
I know Wigan was temporary as Chat Moss would not be the optimum route but Oxford Road is a busy station for commuters, this sounds like they are forcing people onto Northern services who haven't got their new stock yet. A lot of people would use Oxford Rd - Bolton and do use Oxford Rd - Wigan for commuting as it cuts out the intermediate stops that Nothern services would do.
I rather think that's the point - removing short distance commuters from long distance services as much as possible.
-
They won't be operating out of Lime St for very long - major rebuilding will see Lime St closed for several weeks in the early summer. I think the LIV-SCA will be starting/ending at Man Vic, so the diagrams will alter substantially.
-
And yet another one - recently sold on ebay, a kit similar to the 124 one but for an original style Edinburgh-Glasgow intercity 126. (sold for 82 quid)
-
Having waited such a long time for the 21, I was dismayed to see that there's no Kittybrewster tablet fitted locos on the list.
Are these to come later, or aren't they going to bother?
edit - just looked back through the thread and D6150 was quoted as one of the models to be produced, which has evaporated it seems.
-
I'm raising this thread again to see if anyone has experience of some of his DMU products now for sale on Ebay. These are conversions to make 119 and 120 units, and include thin plastic coach sides for all vehicles, as well as resin cast ends, to be attached to donor vehicles. He trades as "sk modeller".
These don't seem to feature on his own site, which does however have a conversion kit with cast resin parts for the 123 DMU, and I see as well that 18000 and 18100 are available.
Many thanks,
John.
He's just sold a similar conversion kit for a 124 on ebay too. Not on the SilverFox website though.

Vote H. I don't know how many times I have to tell you.
It was reported somewhere that the number of votes required for G and H were higher than for A-F because of the extra work required for the revised body shape. If this is indeed true, then I suspect that G and H are inextricably linked, production of one would almost certainly make production of the other a no-brainer because the cost of producing the second would immediately drop due to this work having been already done for the first.

Excellent to deal with. I have one of their gas turbine locos.
I regret I missed their class 89.
The 89 is still available, both RTR and kit.

It's showing for me, but only limited info as yet.

this may be part of the 'old' site though.

For me the most interesting thing is that semi-hidden in the announcement of the retooled 25 is an indication that the 24/1 is going ahead. Many were expecting this to be dropped bearing in mind developments elsewhere.

I noticed this, this morning before coming to RMWeb. This is my core admiration for Bachmann, the details matter!

You crack me up....
Bachmann 2019 Speculation
in Bachmann
Posted
In my case the demand is already there. I have six Bachmann 37s, but would have many more if they had been produced without the glaring errors like the cantrail trough, undersized cab windows etc. I haven’t got the time to rebuild every model I buy, hence only six. If someone produces a quality unrefurbished 37 to the same sort of standard as SLW’s 24 then my savings are in for a severe bashing.
When Bachmann announced D6984 (green, skirts) I was intending to buy 3 or 4 and renumber them and fit etched cab windows. When I saw one in the flesh I just couldn’t bring myself to buy even 1, that’s how bad it is to my eyes.
