  1. Very nice Ivan - are they Alfa 'teledial' alloys..? Out of the blue I've just been offered a late '60s RHD Lancia Flavia Coupe, might go and look at it next week, the owner knows it's out of my budget but it's always nice to make new connections. Nice lot those Italian car nuts
  2. Nowhere Man - Autumnal late '65 Fabs...
  3. A nice period pic - a Fiat 850 Coupe in Torbryan, Devon, 11th September 1971...

  6. I wonder if it'll fit (sideways) in a Mini...
  7. It Might As Well Rain Until September - Carol King *snap!*
  8. You might be right there John - the James May 'Cars Of The People' series is being repeated, I watched the relevant one a couple of weeks ago where he covered the Fiat 124 / Lada crossover, might be worth another shuftie. The naughty cupboard (aka 'the library') has been augmented this week by three new arrivals from that nice Mr.Amazon chappie, her indoors bought me a couple of Brooklands road test volumes on '50s and '60s Alfas for my birthday and finally managed to get a new copy of the one on the Citroen SM - the original order from months ago turned sour when the vendor took her money but then let slip that the book wasn't actually in stock, and never was. All sorted now, he refunded the money and herself then bought a new reprinted version direct from Amazon. The rest of this weekend will be a blur, I'm on call tomorrow so can sit down in my favourite armchair and peruse said books at my considerable leisure, lots of sighing will no doubt follow!
  9. 227 King Street, Hammersmith, 1977... a Lada and VW Polo outside the Hampshire Hog, a boozer of ill repute at the time, much villainy occurred within according to members of my family, I used to live just round the corner, a few yards to the left in Cromwell Avenue, about a quarter of a mile up the road to the left at number 124 King Street was the old premises of Harold Radford Coachbuilders, by 1977 though it was a dealer of yank muscle cars...
  10. Groove Is In The Heart - Deee-Lite (the main 'groove' of which was sampled from the soundterack of an old cult Italian film)
  11. JC isn't aware of many things, tis true.... T'Rex's 'Children Of The Revolution' was played during the conference but it may have escaped his notice that Marc Bolan became a tax exile for a while to escape the then Labour government's excessive tax regime! Back on topic - There are too many individual reasons as to the causes of delays, some of them would take too long to describe during an announcement, some of which will probably not be heard by everyone, best to keep it short and simple really. When travelling pass, usually in / out or across London in full railway gear I've been asked by understandably frustrated passengers wanting to know what actually causes these delays, some of them think I'm telling porkies when I go into detail and mention leaves on the line, cable theft, tresspassers, fatalities, passengers trying to board moving trains etc etc. Sometimes, giving too much information doesn't placate them.
  12. Not all 'personal plates' are about vanity, plenty are of course but a large number of them have been passed down through families, the 'short' ones increasing in value with every year that passes, it's just the way it is. Been thinking about getting a cheap ageless or late '60s / early '70s suffix plate for the Jap Mini, if you pick one with an U, X or Y in it they're cheaper than most, as not that many people have these letters as initials in their name.
