I have a few spare airfix b set coaches that I would like to convert into some different coaches for my BLT layout are there any comet sides that I could use to expand my fleet

I'm in the process of building a small station terminus exhibition layout and I want to use either 3 link coupling or sprat winkle
Being it's a small layout there will be lots of shunting of wagons and coaches
Stock wise it's about 6 locos 5 coaches and about 15 to 20 wagons
So what are your thoughts pro and cons on both types of coupling
Regards darren

A small chance but you just might find one of the Model Wagon Company Cambrian cattle wagons for sale somewhere. It was a cast metal kit.
And David Geen had W8 and W10 GWR cattle wagons on his list but I don't know if they were ever re;leased. David has now retired.
ABS also had a W2 kit, though also no longer available.
This website is a very useful resource:
http://www.gwr.org.uk/kits4wagons.html
but an awful lot are listed as NLA.
See also the comments on RTR cattle wagons elsewhere on the site.

Hi jonathan
Thanks for the information I did see that wagon list when I stumbled across that website .
I think it does come down to either converting a airfix kit or living with the inaccurate Bachmann model , who knows if every gwr modeller badgered peco they may end up producing a model

Options are to scratch build, source Coopercraft via EBay or conversion of the BR design.
so far I have sourced 4 of the Coopercraft kits via eBay (although two of them are missing their chassis which will need scratch building) and backdated one Airfix kit. (There was an article published on the conversion although the magazine escapes me)
It would be a very good shout for Peco (Parkside) to do, especially as the Coopercraft kit had some pretty fundamental issues in the profile of the ends / roof
thanks for quick reply looks like converting airfix ones is my only option

Hi
This may sound a stupid question did the station building signal boxes and other station equipment get repainted after nationalisation or did it stay the same colours ,if it did change when did that happen? Hope that makes sense

Quick question
Does anyone know what pacers have now been preserved and where

During the great storm of 87 we lost our club room for a long period during this time we started a news letter so we could keep the club alive this news letter has been going ever since

With all these show now being cancelled please remember some of the trade survive on going to exhibitions to make ends meat , so now it's time to support our traders
I will certainly be ordering kits that I would of purchased at shows because I dont wish to loose more traders because they have lost out on our money not going to the show

What would you say is the ratio of T9s ,WC/BBs and n classes that you would need to run a north Cornwall layout
I have a ratio 1 t9 to 2wc/bb and 3 N class would you say that looks correct

I Was told this very sad new on the day of his passing away and was shocked by the news i was fortunate to work with Vernon in the days of modelzone, He was a amazing guy to work with he will sorely be missed by the model railway community my thoughts go to kerry and the children at the hard time

Good question, my gut reaction is no as I know on Treneglos we spent a lot of time looking for the Bachmann right-handed Ns with straight-sided 3500gal tenders. The U1s that visited had the slope-sided. I'm away from my books but will look later.
I've been looking through my books too Chris and I can not find one but as I know you have a wealth of knowledge on ncr so thought I ask just in case you knew of one

Did any right handed slope side tendered n class work ncr between the late 50s early 60s

Thanks that's kind of what I want to do
Do you know if the drop lights come with the sides?
I know I need end details, underframe bogies and roof vents to finish is there anything else that's needed
