  1. Rails of Sheffield say they will have theirs tomorrow
  2. Mark, Do you know the Names/Numbers of the 4 Kitchen Firsts, 1 Parlour First & 1 Parlour Second?
  3. Underside of water tender. No update from the Flying Scotsman version and NO NEM COUPLINGS even though this model was, and still is, advertised as having them
  4. Andrew, It is the same as the Flying Scotsman one, the couplings are horrible and that is very annoying. Hornby advertised this as having NEM couplings and as I run Kadee's I assumed that would be an easy swap. But no the only NEM coupling is on the first tender. So not very happy about that at all
  5. Just the two, Golden Plover and, as of yesterday, Bittern with twin tenders
  6. Thanks for the info. It is amazing how many variations on a theme there are!

    Dapol 'Western'

My Western "Western Glory" creaks on the 24" radius bends on my test layout. Does anyone have any ideas if this is curable or should I return it? Its a shame as its such a fine model but it puts me of using it
  8. My RTC version arrived today So I thought I would post a couple of piccies A little work and she will be ready to join the rest of the RTC fleet It arrived late because the postie did not leave a card yet again!! If I hadn't have checked it would sit at the Post Office for ever
  9. What a great blog, very interesting. I am also a Pullman fan especially the Mk1's and now can run several different full rakes, Tees Tyne (various dates and some mixed liveries UC/GB), White Rose, Humber and Hull Pullman. The picture from RW Carroll that you refer to is interesting and I note that the third Pullman is of the pre Mk1 type, it even appears to have destination boards. I think it should have been a Mk1 First Parlor, I assume it has be substituted for a First Parlor pre Mk1 type. This rake, unusually, appears to have been made up of a miss match of stock do you have any ideas why?
  10. I am not sure that this is correct, I may be wrong, I placed my order (Blue Gray) on 14/03/2013 and got it at £42.50 + P&P. But this may only apply to the Blue Gray version
  11. I used Prieser figures and as you say the seats are a little small and very close to the ends and the tables. I ended up doing major surgery to the poor little chap’s legs to get them in
  12. Continuing the theme of a prototype for everything.....has anyone any evidence of this happening in reality? I think its plausible and I quite like the combination
  13. Umm good question. I am sure that there are far more informed experts out there than me. I just used this pic on flickr Click Here as a guide
  14. I have now added DCC lighting to my Inspection Saloon using a 4 Function decoder. This gives independent control of the interior lighting at each end and switching on and off the "oil" lamp, dependent on if it is being hauled or propelled. This was a little fiddly and the decoder ended up in the loo! The only place to hide it. I have also added 6 crew.
  15. I agree that the fittings are to large and a little out of place as shown in this picture of the prototype http://www.departmentals.com/photo/45028-1 but I am certainly not disappointed with mine, I think I can live with it. I may be tempted to paint them yellow to tone them down a little.
  16. Not tried yet. But I think removing the roof could be an issue with those pipes, I am hoping that the chassis will come away without disturbing them. I have only glued the ETH connector "B" at the under chassis point so I can attempt to remove the base to add lighting and a function decoder. If anyone has any tips for removing the chassis I would be grateful to hear them.
  17. Very interesting. I have compared the buffer height with Bachmann Mk1 and Mk2 coaches Mk1 The buffer height is certainly low Mk2 Looks about right if not a little high! As for the detailing pieces and their correct location, thanks to kevpeo for his help, I have detailed one end and the locations are as follows and the end result
  18. Oh yes I have seen it now, it was hidden by the NEM pocket. It looks like that may have to be removed if I am going to fully detail one end
  19. I will play about an see if I can improve the height, thanks JZ Now for the bag of detailing bits and where do they go I know that F are the fixed couplings and I think that A,B.C, and E go where I have indicated If I am correct (probably not!) can anyone tell me where D goes please
  20. As you can see below the coupling sits a little low
  21. Mine arrived this morning and was pressed in to service before adding the detail pieces. Wow what a great model A few piccies If you are using Kadee couplings it looks like #18 is perfect and the NEM pocket is not far off the correct height It is interesting to not that the bogies have electrical pickups fitted. This has got me thinking about some lighting possibilities

    EBay madness

Has anyone seen this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-KIT-BUILT-BR-PULLMAN-BRAKE-COACH-BUTAURUS-17103-for-BITTERN-LOCO-mu-/360510272681?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item53f01634a9 This is such a bad model with a whole list of errors. I sent the vendor this: Hi I am confused a little here. Firstly if this is Bitterns support coach then the number should be 17013 not 17103 as on the model. Secondly the name should be Botaurus not Butaurus. Also the coach type is wrong it looks like a Mk1 BCK not a Mk1 BFK. There are many other errors and therefore I suggest that this should be pointed out in your description as this could only mislead some buyers, especially at this astronomical price. Also it is not a "Pullman coach" as you state it is Mk1 brake painted in a Pullman style. Accurate info can be found here http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=1585 and many other web sites. With your feedback rating I am surprised that you have let so many errors slip in to one item! And guess what, no reply. What a shame with the new Hornby Bittern being released in May this would have been a great addition
