  3. ...the snooker table was at the end of the long corridor...
  4. ...does the school still have a full sized snooker table at its very centre?
  5. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIPL1NwQAY0 Spanky Wilson - Sunshine of your love - Cream ...so what first attracted you to soul singer Ms Wilson...(with thanks CA)
  6. ...do a Google search for "Hartlepool Pit props"...which should bring up some idea of how they were loaded...I suspect they weren't quite as long as the ones you've loaded. ...also there is a down side to having so much timber on your door step...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20K90qd4Dms
  7. OK...so now you've started him off again, railway film locations in Spain are one of his Mastermind subjects...
  8. I am...Bridgwater is on my birth certificate (mind, I wasn't born there)
  9. ..deffo 70s...it was a junior school project to write a letter...
  10. I wrote to them in the early 70s suggesting they showed us how to make scenery using paper mache and they did!... and I got (and still have) my Blue Peter badge...although my mate snapped the pin off the back...
  11. a hoover with a hankie strapped on the nozzle will find just about everything...except the one thing your looking for...but thats how sod's law works!
  12. ...it'll be one of the far western lakedistrict fells...great picture of a once busy junction.
  13. I was told its a GER convertable fish van/open? There used to be an identical one on the back roads between Whitlsea and March up until the 1990s. A/box
  14. solebars are one of his vices...or is it the other way round...
  15. Arp I never realised timetabling could be so entertaining...anytime your free is OK with me...and if you get chance to nip down the Brandling Villa today, they have Wild Beer's "Millionaire" on draught...a milk stout with salted caramel + chocolate...very smooth but not too heavy. Poursee would love it.
  16. Eddie is currently working on a top secret project which could possibly involve a certain train going up the hill at the same time as a certain train comes down the hill...can't say more than this except the timetable is being re-written to include this in time for Warley...not even sure Arp knows hes re-writing the timetable yet...and considering the last one was written in the pub over 2 days...I'm not complaining... A
  17. <<Could you please tell me if the layout is scheduled to appear at any exhibitions for late 2016 and 2017.>> ...Warley 2016 is its next outing...
  18. This is where the 16t mineral thread gets mashed up with 'Where's Wally'...a combination that can be weirdly addictive. (really?) Porsea Maine put me onto this and I've been hooked ever since....follow this link for a taster and if you 'sign in' (for free) you get the zoom function...you get access to 900,000 similar views and another 3 miliion in the pipeline... This by the way is Teesside in 1953 and out of all the wagons on show I can count only 3 16tonners. http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/eaw038881 The Browse facility gives you access to the rest of the nation...and BTW if you've never seen a 'Where's Wally' book its a bit like this but for kids... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where%27s_Wally%3F PS If we've done this before then I apologise in advance A/box
  19. Mr F Its been weeks since you last posted soemthing new...don't worry...the lamp post boys are currently crowd sourcing^ their 12" to the foot preservation movement...so its safe to start making new stuff again. In the meantime...have you ever considered doing some 'Monkeys Tails' ? There were a lot of them around...think of all those Slaters 20ton hoppers out there in desperate need of some... So if you've read this and would buy some tails off Mr F then press the 'thanks' button so he can then gauge the interest... A/Box PS I'm in need of 120...I'm sure Porsee will have at least 8*, so thats 128 already sold! ^ Last heard they were looking for someone with a JCB for some nocturnal adventures * There are 8 tails in every 20t hopper (not all the same mind)

They were also used on long distance freights up to Edinburgh (there is film out there of them rattling along the ECML in the late 40s)...they don't half have a 'gait' about them when they get going...apparently the NB crews didn't seem to be as enthusiastic and dubbed them 'belly crawlers'... A/box
  21. Pursee, your right I was meaning North Close not Page Bank...it was 35 years ago. Now then DLPG when did you want us to stop this day trip back to Spennymoor as we could last out until your show in October (we've got 11 or 12 railway lines to discuss and we travel from lamp post to lamp post)...but by then we will have been kicked off RM Web...so is it about time Poursee started his own "lamposts I have admired" thread? PS, see you at the show.
  22. Now then Porsee...if you want to get picky...I can count 11* sets of rails (or former sets of rails) crossed on my trip to school. If its any help the bus went round via Doggie, Metal Bridge, turn off at Smart and Browns and then up to Page Bank before coming back down to Spenny. We crossed 3 seperate lines twice...and I have included internal colliery lines. *might even be 12 sets...and haven't include the Tudda colliery line either... A/box
  23. ...that was Porcy up the lampost...I was too busy in the pub with me hard earned pint....until one lunchtime when the teachers came in for a leaving do and I didn't get out the back door fast enough...happy days, will be good to go back (if just for the day). ...thinking about it Spenny Comp was a good school, you had a small colliery at the bottom of the school field, a disused railway line still with most of its infrastructure running alongside, you had a clear view of Durham Cathedral in one direction and the the Penniine moors in the other...and to get there you had to cross 5 railway lines...and more often than not you were stopped by the coal train from Kella pit or the covhops from Coxhoe WH...
  24. I still owe them 2 hours detention from 1981...do you think they will have forgotten by now?
