  1. Or this one in Australia. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/planking-death-man-plunges-from-balcony-20110515-1entn.html 7th floor fall. Kevin Martin
  2. So, they're moving away from the 'your computer has been detected as having a virus' type call then? Kevin Martin
  3. Then there is the straight out stupidity cases. In Australia there has been some cases where people have been sacked instantly for 'Planking'. It includes some in major supermarket chains & subsideries, where they have been photographed on top of shelving units & the like. Also big mining companies where the employees are on very large contracts. At least one manager was sacked for instead of discouraging planking, merely took photos of the others. Some were just on the lunch room table, but rightly so, the rule has to be consistently applied. Kevin Martin
  4. Yes, I agree its plain silly. But your example is often quoted. Kevin Martin
  5. But this case proved to be a genuine one, the coffee was deliberately sold 'too hot' to safely drink. http://www.caoc.com/...owPage&pg=facts The practice was to make the coffee as 'hot as possible' because they claimed people purchased it, then took it home or where ever to drink, thus they made it deliberately hot to allow for the travel time. This meant that anyone who opened it immediately, as is what happened in this case, risked a serious burn injury. Kevin Martin
  6. It's been around for years, probably as long ago as Scorates wrote his piece. Here is an example claimed to be from 1998. http://outofthesquareed.com.au/articles/the-death-of-common-sense.html Kevin Martin
  7. Don't you see that the rule has already been prepared for metrics. What sort of easy to visulise distance is 32ft? - why not KISS at 30ft? Kevin Martin
  8. Whatever. But before you get too carried away in praising the Americans for being non-metric, remember they use a completely different & supposedly simplified version of the "Imperial' system. Your argument might make some sense if the British & Americian's used the same system, but they don't. So which is worse, them inventing a 3rd system or not using the metric system? I know what I think. Kevin Martin
  9. Umm, I remember doing metrics at school, well before leaving for Australia in 1972. Its worse when you get stuck in a half/half situation for decades like Britain has. You almost got it 1871 according to this - only 5 votes stopped it. http://lamar.colosta...er/internat.htm Of course, perhaps if governments waited for all the oldies to die, it would be an ideal time. Kevin Martin
  10. Quite right. In any civilised country, it ought to be a distance in metres. In Victoria, Australia it is 10 Metres, which is close enough to 32ft. Kevin Martin
  11. Hmm. So its worse with the cover on and is an intermittant open circuit. Is the body slightly distorting the chassis & so causing the chassis to lift on one side? Perhaps only leaving one driver in contact on one side? Kevin Martin
  12. OK, you said it's not a short or anything binding. So that leaves an open circuit. How about the blue wire under the piece of tape, was that loose? It also seems to change colour, so a join. Not sure how that would relate to it stopping when at one place during the revolution though. Perhaps a tyre is loose? Kevin
  13. Exactly right. As a Chelsea fan it is most disappointing to have a spoilt brat owning the club, who imposes expensive but unwanted players onto his managers and then blames the manager for lack of the right results. It ought to be about team performance & not individual egos. As much as it pains me, Man Utd has a much better set up, where the owners leave the team performance to those who know what the're doing. The Glaziers might be milking the club dry, but at least they have the results for them to be able to milk dry. Kevin Martin
  14. Mod Rail Illustrated Vol 1 number 6 has a review of the NWSL rivet press. Never seen one though. MRJ 103 & 104 has review of GW odels type MRJ 116 for Micromark (US) rivet MRJ 120 for handmade drop type. Kevin Martin
  15. I seem to remember a certain Drogba did exactly the same thing. For that he got 3 matches and he was telling the truth - it was a disgrace. Rooney's a fool for getting 'done' at the wrong part of the season for no gain. Kevin Martin
  16. Well, I'm glad it wasn't a score of 5-1, because that would mean our Chelsea would have lost. As I've just finished telling an Australian off nicely, because he wrote the score as 3-1 in an email to me. Since the home team normally goes first, that would be disasterous news! It is common for some media outlets in Australia to write the results as Chelsea 3 D (efeated) Blackpool 1, so you have to be very careful reading the results in the paper. I don't understand why they insist on placing the winning team first. Kevin Martin
  17. Yes, but if you asked the 5 delegates what happened, they would all say "But I did vote for you, where do you think the 2nd vote came from"? Since its a secret ballot, prove it one way or another. At least England got 2 votes, unlike Australia - because the Oceania group ended up without a vote. Not that it would of made any difference. The problem is the rest of the world gang up on English speakers for the World Cup. Not that Football is very strong outside the United Kingdom, in regard to it not being the dominant football code in any of what were once colonies. Kevin Martin
  18. As another Chelsea fan, I agree 100%. I don't understand the Ray Wilkins saga at all and possibly it affected the teams performance. The way I see it, we lead by 2 points & have an advantage of 6 in goal difference. With another 25 games still to play, the Premier League is wide open to the top 7 or 8 sides at least -- It isn't the Scottish P.L. Apologies to the Scots, but your P.L. is yet another 2 horse race. Any talk of "Stop the engravers" has just been pathetic calls by others, stirring the pot. I'll be happy with another Championship under the belt, whether we win by 12 points or on goal difference and just pipping Arsenal & United well behind them. B) Kevin Martin Blue is the Colour.
  19. But strictly speaking, do these have to be the same scale as humans? If Dr Who can explain away everything else (including things that were in previous series not possible, yet now are fair game)? This includes the serious matter of self defence for the TARDIS, yet each story line now presents a brand new threat to the TARDIS. A 20% variation in scale ratio, would appear to be a minute problem. Kevin Martin
