  1. Are they the Tillig part nos. 08847, 08848? https://www.tillig.com/eng/Produkte/produktinfo-08847.html https://www.tillig.com/eng/Produkte/produktinfo-08848.html if that's so it'll make the job converting my BTTB wagons much easier
  2. Final thing tonight ... The strip of road with pavements is now complete, the brown areas at both ends is where the track will be laid down. Next areas to tackle are the modules with the Quonset/Nissen huts. Again I'm completing the greenery and paving first, the buildings will take longer.
  3. Work's progressing on the first set of modules, some of the roads. Each section is first painted in Tamiya earth brown, then Tamiya neutral grey applied to the pavements and finally Revell 47 matt grey for the roads. Road markings are handpainted with Humbrol white enamel. The areas around and between the roads and pavements, including unpainted styrene patches, will be covered with Gaugemaster/Noch grass matting.
  4. During the last few days my secondhand Berliner TT Bahn wagons arrived to supplement the three Tillig blue Polish Railways (PKP) wagons supplied in the starter set. The BTTB wagons have the earlier hook and loop couplings, I may equip at least one of my Tillig locos with the older style but I don't know the part number. Interestingly the Tillig PKP covered van uses the same underframe as the three long wheelbase BTTB vans except for the couplings.
  5. Over the past few days I added more details to the styrene, non-railway sections. Footpaths and hard standing for car parks, machinery etc added and placing of Quonset/Nissen huts finalised.
  6. My guesses for next year regarding modern image traction are more re-runs. New liveries on the 66s and 90s Northern 156 in their standard livery (as opposed to R3772 Royal Air Force version) Maybe blue/grey and Network SouthEast VEPs from their revised tooling Possibly revisiting the Networker 466 with DCC capability this time More liveries on their Sentinel diesels. The only all new item I could speculate on are the TFW's versions of the Flirt (classes 231, 756)
  7. Gresley's pacifics are expected winter 2022-23, but the Duchesses have been pushed back to winter 2024-25. However the extra maroon Mk1s are expected winter 2022-23, but crimson/cream versions not due till summer 2023. Pullmans are also expected winter 2022-23. The steam era wagons are still expected Wnter 2022-23, except for the Toad brake van which is due spring 2023. Otherwise the 08 is delayed until spring 2023, but the HST is still currently planned for release at the same time. Spring 2023 should still be the release date for the LMS and BR Stanier coaches, the Mk2 air-cons, HST Mk3, HAA hoppers and the 21T mineral wagon. The TTA tankers have a Summer 2023 release date.
  8. the GBRf 50 (50049) modelled by Hornby was unveiled in 2019 https://www.railadvent.co.uk/2019/03/gb-railfreight-unveil-class-50-locomotives.html and operated on a spot hire basis https://www.fiftyfund.org.uk/index.php/2-uncategorised/97-gbrf-and-class-50-alliance-collaboration-sealed-with-locomotive-repaints It's a question of deciding which models appear first, according to Hornby's online shop and brochure, class 66s are expected spring next year, KFA container wagons are either in phases 3 or 4, no timescale has been given for an 800 yet
  9. I bought two Quonset lots from the USA and they'll be located on two modules. Preparations are being made for modelling activity over Xmas...
  10. It's not easy choosing which models to begin with, and to sequence them, if you're introducing a completely new range. Hornby was right in bringing out Gresley's pacifics as train sets and also (to be) available separately. At the same time they should have brought out a train set containing a contemporary prototype, a GWR or LNER class 800, or a GWR HST, could have sold well.
  11. I've revised my thoughts on 37s and 47s, Hornby aren't announcing them in OO yet but may do so in a few years time. A NBR Glen class could be announced to accompany the 6-wheel carriages. I'd welcome a new-tool D49 and a K4. The Oxford Rail locos and rolling stock rebranded as Hornby.
  12. Still an issue checked their website just now https://www.dpd.co.uk/pdf/DPD_Service_Disruption.pdf I don't have any outstanding deliveries by DPD, but if the seller allows, I can divert a package to one of their collection points, it's acceptable to me - my nearest such location is based at a petrol station open 24/7 so I can collect at my leisure
  13. My predictions are a new-tool rebuilt Merchant Navy, GWR Pannier, plus class 37 and 47. The 37, 47 and pannier have already been announced in TT. Otherwise they'll release models for the centenary of the "Big Four" and 75th anniversary of the establishment of BR.
  14. This afternoon my Quonset (based on Nissen huts) buildings arrived by courier from the USA. They're produced by ModelSceneryWorld and are one-piece 3D printed structures without glazing. Dimensions of buildings: Large hut: 100 mm long x 100 mm wide x 49 mm high Small hut without windows: 64 mm long x 64 mm wide x 32 mm high Small hut with windows and door: 64 mm long x 70 mm wide x 32 mm high
  15. I'm curious to find out how Hornby will tackle the 37s and 47s, because they've never released OO superdetailed versions similar to Bachmann's or Heljan's renditions. I hope Hornby will produce a large logo 47, that'll bring loads of memories back for me!
  16. The first of Hornby's Scotsman sets arrived to their lucky recipients today but my preordered Hornby models, a blue class 08, three TTA tanks and three Mk2 air-cons, won't be in my hands until next year. This'll give me time to make progress on the layout ready for Hornby's arrivals.
  17. At long last! My final Tillig track order arrived this morning from Germany. There's now enough to make up a second parallel circuit with points. I sourced them from three German suppliers plus Golden Valley Hobbies. According to tracking, the Quonset 3D prints left USA yesterday. I may still receive them in time for Xmas.
  18. My second (and for now the final West German epoch III loco) Tillig 02743 Deutsche Bundesbahn Epoch III diesel arrived from Scograil. V 162 003 loco (later 217 003), built by Krupp with Siemens electrical generator in 1966 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DB_Class_V_162
  19. This week my Matchbox Routemaster arrived in the post. I placed this aside my Corgi Enviro400. (NB as the model was bought in 2012 it represents the earlier Enviro400 version, not the later MMC variant) Sources of prototype dimensions: Wikipedia. Dimensions of model Routemaster: 71 mm long x 35 mm high x 20.5 mm wide. Dimensions of prototype: 27 ft 6 in (8.38 m) long x 14ft 4 1/2 in (4.38 m) high x 8 ft (2.44 m) wide Dimensions of model Enviro400: 75 mm long x 36.5 mm high x 22.5 mm wide. Dimensions of prototype: 10.1 m long x 4.2 m high x 2.55 m wide. The Routemaster scales around 1:117, the Enviro400 scales around 1:110. If scales are confirmed I'll add either or both those buses in the appropriate thread in the TT120 section.
  20. Here's latest progress on this layout. All styrene bases cut (13 sections) and basic road layout installed, perimeter road round inside of oval and grid layout with centre intersection. Some edges highlighted to show road layout clearer. Detailed roads, pavements, etc await arrival of Quonset structures from the U.S and outstanding track from Germany.
  21. an image of one of the carriages in 1969 appears in a photo of this website https://www.baor-locations.org/BMT.aspx.html behind a BR 52 steam loco, by then the train ran daily between Braunschweig (Brunswick) and Berlin Charlottenburg until 1990. PS it costed just over 60 euros for the 2-coach pack but with VAT and postage added it mounted up to over 103 euros, Hornby's TT:120 models now look far more affordable!
  22. Brief history of the prototype, it was delivered in 1940 to the Oberkommando des Heeres and was used at the Heeres-Muna at Wulfen. In 1945, the locomotive moved to the British Army of the Rhine, in 1997 the locomotive passed to the Deutsche Bahn AG and is now at the Eisenbahn Museum Arnstadt.
  23. My Tillig 01761 pack of two Royal Corps of Transport DB UIC-X green carriages (Epoch III) arrived from Germany. They're 26.4 m long which will test clearances around the oval circuits. Here they're running behind a V200.
  24. Supplier (DS AutoModelle) unable to fulfil so refund issued, instead I ordered a pair of curved points with adaptor pieces from Modellbahn Union.
