  1. Hi Jeff I, like several others on here, thought the house move was going to see you move to the 'right' side of the Pennines, I'm pleased that's not the case, (NOT that your not welcome this side of the hill, far from it!!), but that your not needed in the bottom corner of this fine County. The first thing I thought about KL MK2 was NOT the photo's, but the woodwork that will be to do again and we know what you think about wood!! It may have been said before, but one of my favourite sayings is "It doesn't matter if you never get to where you're going as long as you enjoy the journey" and I'm certain you've enjoyed this journey until now. Quote from yourself:- "I can honestly tell you, Rob - there are NO nails in the benchtops whatever." I'm wondering IF you'll still be able to say that on the 26th!!! Seriously though, good luck with everything and I hope it all goes to plan. Chip P.S. I'll still be lurking. P.P.S. Hide the hammer on the 25th!!
  2. It must be, it involves photo's, now I see there are some more for me to look at, EXCELLENT. Keep up the good camera work Jeff, it is very much appreciated here. Chip.
  3. Chip, Ah, the secret? Didn't you know Jeff was a Nuclear Physicist and that nuclear stuff is magic. Probaly got bitten by a radioactive 4mm scale spider. Of course, now why didn't I think of that!!!! Now Feeling Stupid Lune :fool:
  4. SIMPLY STUNNING Hi Jeff Looks fantastic, when you decided to ditch the aqueduct I wasn't sure it was the right decision as I thought the aqueduct was "different", but looking at those pics it was the right way to go. It all looks brilliant and every time I see those rocks in the cuttings they just look so real. Chip P.S. WHAT'S YOUR SECRET?? I've got a few farmer friends who would like their grass to grow as fast in spring and summer, never mind the end of OCTOBER!!
  5. Thanks Jeff, I feel much better now!! That pound coin really does show the scale of the building very well. Already looking forward to seeing the "stonework" on it. Excellent work as usual.
  6. Hi Jeff, how long is shortly?? I'm lurking, looking, desperately seeking Susan pics of construction!! Chip (The one who has been deprived of pics recently!!)
  7. Hi Al Personally I'd be tempted to just add a section in the middle, but having never built anything like this I've no idea how 'easy' it would be. I've never built anything that does not come as a kit with INSTRUCTIONS telling me how to put it together, but I'm absolutely loving your 'tutorials', not only are you an expert builder, but you put it into words (and pics) very very well as well. Keep up the excellent work. Chip
  8. Now - do I play with the 4Fs or go and do a bit of walling? Erm, difficult choice!! I'd say the walling can wait, man deserves to have a play now & again.
  9. Hi Jeff Some MORE photo's for you, apologies for the quality of the first one, (cameraman needs shooting!!) but it does show the angle in relation to the ground the best. Those 3 are all the same tree, just taken at different angles. These next four are of a different tree, again just different views. There are a couple of trees right on the top of the "Knott" which is what I set off to get pictures of today, but by the time I got to these 2 (about half way up) the cloud had descended and not even for Kirkby Luneside was I going any higher today!!!!!!!! Hope you like/can make use of these. Chip
  10. Built-in 2 styles, to keep Chip happy! :imsohappy: :imsohappy: :imsohappy: :imsohappy: It worked then!!!!
  11. Hi Jeff VERY VERY IMPRESSED I think it's safe to say that work deserves 11/10 I've never seen a wall on a model that's looks anywhere near as good as that does, it's brilliant. As with most things in life, "you only get out what you put in" and the effort YOU put into this whole layout is fantastic, A VERY BIG THANK YOU for sharing it with us all. Chip Tomorrow I might just have some more pics for YOU.
  12. Hi Jeff Would you believe me if I said that it's NOT JUST "Dodgy EX car salesmen" that are looking for pics?????????? Eagerly Awaiting Lune P.S. I will be back long before midnight!!
  13. Sorry Jeff, that excuse won't wash with me!! Those photo's may have been deleted off my phone and/or may be lost in the depths of this thread, but I can soon go and take some MORE for you!! Snap Happy Lune
  14. Never in a million years!! Hi Jeff I totally agree with Bodgit, we want MORE pics PLEASE. I could have sworn I recognised that sheep fold by the beck, but it looks like it's below a reservoir, so it's not the one I was thinking off. Do you or anyone else know where it is?? Nosey Lune
  15. Hi Jeff Loving the photo's, that 1st one here really shows off the walls on the hillside, they look fantastic. Oh sorry, was I meant to be looking at the ballast?? Just in case you get a little bored with the plain old stiles in your superb walls, here's a liitle challenge for you, it's half steps and half squeeze, not sure what it's called or even if it has a proper name, although I'm sure it will have. Fingers crossed I've remembered how to do this, there should be 2 side views and the 3rd looking from directly above. There, that should give you a couple of sleepless nights!! Keep up the excellent work and keep that camera charged up ready for action. Chip
  16. Hi Jeff You know me, always lurking in the background. Love the "double" depth ballasting, well worth the extra effort in my opinion, but it's not me who's putting in that extra effort!! I'm waiting for the walling to start again as I have a different style stile lined up for you!!?? I totally agree with Mr P (and others) that we can never have too many pics on here, please keep them coming. Chip
  17. Morning Jeff The photo's were indeed taken by myself, all within half a mile of my front door and on the same footpath. The stile with 4 photo's was "converted" only a year or two ago from a wooden "up & over" style stile, I don't know why, but I do like the new one a lot better. We also have some squeeze stiles on this side of the Pennines, but I cannot think of one that is as posh as the one in Andy G's link, now there's a challenge for you Jeff!! Chip
  18. Hi Jeff Once upon a time if I remember rightly you asked for photo's of Westmoreland stiles, well if this works there should be some here!! Stile 1, Side 1 Stile 1, Side 2 On the other side of the same field we have Stile 2, Side 1 Stile 2, side 2 Just to throw a spanner in the works, here's a different style stile!! Now 4 views of another stile, 2 each side And as I could not be bothered to climb over this one there is only 1 photo!! I hope these help, plenty more stiles around here and if you want some more photo's, just shout. Keep up the good work and it's good to see that after 7000 posts NOBODY disagrees with you!! Chip
  19. Hi Jeff Simply stunning.. I very much hope one day when (NOT if) you have an "open day", I'll get to see this masterpiece in the flesh, so to speak. Keep up the superb work & I hope you enjoyed your play with your new toy, you deserve it. Always remember, "You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing". Chip
  20. "And chip, if you tune in....lots of pics!" Hi Jeff For certain I will be lurking around somewhere keeping an eye on this thread through the day, with the promise of more pics I might even use both eyes!! Love the rocks, as usual you make it look so easy. Chip
  21. Hi Jeff That is an understatement if ever I've heard one!!! I saw the photo's and just like Jason when I looked at the 1st one I thought 'no good', 2nd one 'bit more like it', 3rd one 'now it's looking like a wall', 4,5 & 6 look 'fantastic', this is going to be so much better than anything you could have bought off a shelf. Which all goes to prove an old saying that "Women (SORRY Polly!!) and children should never see a job half done", as I'm fast approaching my half century I'm not sure which category I put myself in!! Excellent, looking forward to seeing these in situ and painted. Chip.
  22. EDIT: Hey Chip - that means photos for you to look at!! What a day this is turning out to be, first of all this morning I congratulated myself on not dying in my sleep last night, now the promise of MORE photo's, does life get any better I ask?
  23. Hi Jeff "I do indeed know J38 very well. I'm wondering if the "Toy Factory" that is signed at the Tebay junction is near Orton?" "Toy Factory"?? From what I'm lead to believe it's actually one man making wooden toys in his garage/workshop, hardly what I'd call a factory!! When you next come off the motorway @ J38 on your way home, approx 1 mile up the A685 take your 2nd left and follow the "old" road and you will go through a hamlet called "Kelleth", that's where the 'factory' is. Carry on along that road & you will come back to the A685 @ Newbiggin on Lune. Kelleth is roughly 3 miles from Orton. "even if it is often cloudy in Cumbria." Only 364 days a year on average!! We had summer yesterday, more wet stuff today. so it's back to "Lurking Lune" in this weather.
  24. Hi Jeff No apology needed, it's YOUR layout for YOU to do what YOU want with at the speed YOU want. Excellent work as usual, that's why I love the photo's, that ground level shot is fantastic. Where about's in Cumbria am I?? I think I once said I was within 10 miles of KSW (Kirkby Stephen West), having now just checked on a route planner it seems I told a little "porky pie", it's actually 10.9 miles, unless of course I'm a CROW, in which case I might just have told the truth!! I'm in Orton, approx 2.5 miles north of J38 of the M6 (which you will know pretty well) and on a day like today it's the best place in the world. Far too nice to be indoors though. After seeing those photo's I'm now "Satisfied Lune".
  25. Tell you what, Andy. I'll show a photo, then I'll do one of my infamous multi-coloured photo-shop sketches on the top, so you "get the picture". I should be able to manage that ready for your coffee and scones at 11!! Jeff No scones in Cumbria, but I have got my coffee & I'm keeping one eye on here looking forward to a photo or two. Eagerly awaiting Lune
