  1. Yes and there will be plenty of other compromises along the way...
  2. Yes I had noticed it previously (other photos show a small retaining wall at the back of the fueling road), I’ve chosen to ignore it though out of convenience....
  3. Just following some of the early photo links in this thread as I get myself back up to speed. This is an interesting one, from the Derby Sulzers website. https://www.derbysulzers.com/inverness.html Great view of the fueling area. It makes me wonder if I have room to model the back of the signal box in the background - it does appear to be square on with the back scene at that end of the layout.
  4. I’ve just offered up the fascia to remind myself what we’re doing with it. The bottom of it sits higher than the based board, the reason for this is to allow the fitment of ground level strip lights. ‘Diesels in the Duchy’ suffered from not having front lighting, only overhead, this resulted in the side of the locos being in shadow if they were towards the front of the layout. Hopefully this will improve that. Also I’ll only need to model one of the front tracks on the Rose curve - you can’t see the other one with the fascia in place...
  5. Yep - it’s definitely had a nudge off something. Not too much involved to fix but does show the need for decent edge protection...
  6. I’m just digging out the fascia and fiddleyard board out of the garage, it’s clear there’s been some transit damage...
  7. Well, it’s Saturday night, a big night. What am I doing? Cutting point timbers to length....
  8. In honesty having looked at this again, I don’t think it makes any difference to me - the track formation hasn’t moved. So I’ll carry on as was...
  9. I knew I’d forgotten what I was doing This end panel is removable - the scene will go right into the fiddleyard! See here for my thinking around this...
  10. You’ve got me thinking - never make assumptions... I thought it was an up and down road - it’s not, just looked the quail map... Rose St curve - bi-directional DN harbour branch - bi-directional Interesting
  11. I’ve just noticed there’s a signal protecting the junction (above the loco). I think we should be able to include this on the far right hand side of the layout. https://www.flickr.com/photos/d9006/4643008406/in/album-72157610007241008/ And may be a ground signal coming the other way?
  12. I’ve now put down a representation down of Rose curve station avoiding lines. The Inverness overall layout is built on a triangle, two sides of which have platforms forming that station. The Rose curve Lines are the third part of that triangle avoiding the station.
  13. I'm having terrible trouble with my auto-collection and smell check.
  14. And from the other way https://www.flickr.com/photos/d9006/4631773719/in/album-72157610007241008/
  15. I’m now making out the feeling fueling area. Things to note here; 1) Track is concrete sleepers cast into a concrete plinth. 2) Drainage channels 3) Two wriggly tin shelters over pumps 4) Metal railing on edge of plinth adjacent to Rose Curve tracks https://www.flickr.com/photos/d9006/4643008406/in/album-72157610007241008/
  16. The thinking is that something like a loco or snowplough could be parked here to distract the eye... And if I laid the track right in the shed it could be used as hidden storage - but would it get used?
  17. The corner seen from the front with the board end put back in place. The end of the building is fixed and can’t move - it hides the vertical support at the back of the layout - so there’s no wriggle room in this space really. I could continue the building and extend it right to end of the board, but I feel in doing this I lose the definition of the building....
  18. I’ve transposed the plan on to the boards, on the right the wash out bay (with the pit) and on the left the repair shop. I’m debating whether to put small amounts of track in front of the repair shop. I’m not sure what this corner is going to look like.
