Pete
Think you need to give up this living in the US of A and move over to the East Midlands and join the BS MRG. Damian and John would love your help with their current and future projects and we do occasionally have problems finishing all the pies.....
Tis true we need more members.
Warley was a real struggle with only 3 of us.
I've not mentioned to the team that one of the invites we recieved over the weekend was for both the layouts at the same show!!

Oh, I'm with you for an O "McRats on the Clyde". People forget the "smell" yet it is the most evocative sense.
Best, Pete.
Oh don't worry; our layouts have smells - just not the right ones.
-
Personally I never understood Western's fascination with "hydraulics" - some German influence in Swindon, perhaps?
But, then you must remember that one of my "favourite" locos was the Brush Type 2.................I used to watch them "zip" by my house in Shenfield from 1958 (including the slightly later lurid paint jobs).
Best, Pete.
Brush Type two's? They were my earliest memories of railways, rail blue examples shunting coal/ grain on the crossing at Louth, which at that point was a freight only branch from Grimsby - a far Cry from the GNR Grimbsy/ Peterborough/ London main line it once was.
That said its the other type two's that really do it for me.
One of the concepts that is kicking around for a future layout in 'O' gauge is "Mc Rats on the Clyde" which yes, would be full of sulzer type two's, and it would be based on half of Motherwell shed in Green/Blue era......
Lot's of old ex steam buildings with smelly diesels. I'm sure its been done before

I'm secretly building up an alternative EM DCC fleet to run when we send you for lunch,,,
Wouldn't it look good with a selection of dirty hydraulics?
You've used the word secret???
Dirty hydraulics - oooo yes - all those wonderful sounds
Perhaps some corporate sponsorship? Hey Andy?

Superb shots of a superb layout!!
Well done chaps!
Cheers for that.
Shame there wasn't the occasional Deltic visit down there!
At least I don't think there was.....

Hi
Fantastic layout enjoyed watching it at Warley. (Did say hello but don't think you heard me) Hope you had a good weekend?
Scott
Had a fantastic weekend
Sorry for not hearing your 'hello'
Next time just throw something at us

I got to see the layout on the Saturday and I have to say I was very impressed! Was a real joy to watch, the only problem being (like with most layouts at Warley) I could'nt stay for too long in fear of not seeing everything. I'm going to do both days next year as you really can't see everything in the one day to truely appreciate it.
Thanks Monty.
We won't be there next year so you may not need the two days - ha ha.
We'll be there the year after with Johns ' Once Upon a Time in The West' 1919 New Mexico layout.

What a fabulous weekend!!!!
Thank you all for your kind comments both on this web-thingy and at the show.
I feel a real buzz today - I'm on a real high -
Has anyone got anyone got any photo's they fancy posting? - as usual we didn't have any time to take any in between, beer, pies and lots of yapping.......

Actually we find taking a layout to a show is too tiring these days and so, starting with Warley, we're just taking some bar stools, a table, some (ok, a lot) of pies and a few cans....
Packed!
- I need a sleep now -
-
just remembered i need to pick John up from the station as his yank tank has failed in service again. Carrying a bag and a big roll of display board should make him easy to find!
Just remembered, I need to pick you pair up at Tamworth.
Now where did I hire that van from??
-
What about now?
behave.
one more sleep to go
-
Are we nearly there yet??
er? nooooooo
-
Booking a supply of Pies and Beer must take priority.......
El Gringo is quiet lately? Is he OK?
Best, Pete.
Oh dear.
I've only ordered a High Top Transit
I'm now thinking I need a 7.5 tonner!!
I knew I shouldnt have rushed into this.
ha ha ha

5 days until Warley
Must book the van.....

¿Que?
In the words of Basil Fawlty..."I am so sorry...he's from Barcelona"...
Would love to see the layout...and Uckfield is always a quality show...logs on to easyJet.com now...
Hope you can make it, please say hello.
I agree Uckfield is a cracking show, we took TG there a few years ago and were impressed by the consistant high quality of all the layouts.

Damian, hi
Is DitD penciled in to appear at the Uckfield 2012 show? (its hinted at on their website)
If so...I might just have to book my flight tickets now...would love to get to see the layout.
Pete
Yes it is.
wow!
Where you flying from?
-
Looking good mate where did you get the loco resprayed to?
Thanks for the compliment - especially since its such a poor picture.
All of the 37's were resprayed by Jon Gavin at Peak-Dale works.
He's made an excellent job, I'm very pleased with them.
Just in the process of re-wheeling and chiping 521, a flush fronted machine. Jon used a Rail Express limited edition for the basis of this one because of its flush fronted nose.

How about a naked class 37!
Hmmmm.
A large pair of buffers wouldn't go a miss....
-
I've made progress this weekend, one day on the layout - the other down the Great Central Railway with father as he was taking part in a footplate experience course.
The display boards are painted now to match the rest of the layout. We just need to finalise the display -
Pirelli calander anyone?
Here's a couple of shots at the GCR - the garage is too dark for any layout/ display board shots.
I've just received some more wheels from Alan Gibson although judging by this photo perhaps i've not bought enough.
Network Rail yellow 37 195 is still around, pictured here at Loughborough.
This next weekend is that last weekend for Jobs before Warley as we are out with one of our other layouts Treneglos the weekend before at Spalding exhibition.
I've left all the jobs I hate till last; namely re-wheeling, fitting chips and fitting buffer beam detail.

I'll second that. That's why all our layouts have ample space between operating positions....although someone who will remain nameless (50026) loves a spot of crop dusting from time to time
By the way I can't believe you've found one of those animated yellow thingies that f*rts and then wafts it away!
Very special!!

Ah ha, fear not.
Warley show is in a big hall.
You will not have to endure any high pressure, confined space situations!!

What, we thinking 'Britians Got Model Railway Talent' style??
Perhaps we could have a more 'room 101' approach where some one pulls a lever and the offending item disappears into the ground.
This could include layouts, people, food and beer we dont like.
