  1. Mickleover is going to be at TINGS, Leamington Spa on 10/11th Sep 2022. I am really looking forward to this one.
  2. The layout had a 10 page feature in Model Rails summer special "Great British Model Railways - 12 Inspirational Layouts" with superb photography by Chris Nevard.
  3. Pawson's now has a suitable industrial skyline made from the Townscene range of printed backscenes, obtained from Freestone Model Accessories. The buildings were made to look distant by overspraying from a distance with white/grey/matt black aerosol cans. It was in this condition it was exhibited at Redcar and Pickering. We had great fun giving the controls to certain members of the public and getting them to shunt the yard.
  4. So, after the mayhem caused by Covid, Pawson's is now due out at the following exhibitions: 6/7 Aug, Redcar. 20/21 Aug Pickering, Hope to see some of you there and get you operating it! It is operated from the front, so is a nice puzzle to solve.
  5. Mickleover is going to be at the Whitby model rail show at Goathland on the 23/24 July. As soon as the new conservatory is finished in the next three days, it will be put up in the garage to remove the spiders and do any repairs.

    Sandy Bay

Sandy Bay has just returned from an outing to the EBOR group exhibition at Heworth near York. A very freindly exhibition run superbly by the EBOR modellers. It was awarded the cup for the layout most enjoyed and voted for by the visiting public. Thanks to everyone who saw it and voted for it. The next outing for it is 15/16 Oct at Hartlepool. See you there!
  7. We have been busy creating a scenic break for the fiddle yard out of old Airfix girder bridges. Dave has been busy adding pva and black ballast mix to the sides of the boards.

Next job is to design and build the running in board.

Whilst the weather has been bad I have built, painted and positioned the Peco station lamps and seats. I decided not to bother illuminating them as the layout is a daytime scene. I also built and painted the Duncan Models victorian urinal, adding a suitable figure inside.
  10. I have found the Archers rivets need a good gloss surface for them to stick properly. Also I very carefully varnish or paint over them once they are dry as otherwise you can wipe them off with your hands.
  11. Further along the platform, there is going to be another cereal packet building based on that at Marishes Road.
  12. I have modified some Peco station lamps so they now have the characteristic NER heavy metal support at the rear.
  13. We have been busy during the last few months, ballasting track, building a station building on a bridge, out of lamminated cereal packets, and generally playing trains.

I have some Peco station lamps and seats to assemble, and I need to make a running in board. After that I need to build the signals (Peco/MSE hybrids) then assemble the bridge which screens the traverser. Now the warmer days are here the layout is progressing.

I thought I would add a quick update of where I am with this layout, and add a few photos. The signal box and station building are now externally complete, I have built a telephone box, and I am currently assembling a Victorian cast iron urinal to go on the platform.
  16. It's always nice to see your locos moving. Great work as always.
  17. Hi, dccsupplies.com list many Archers sheets, also EBay had a lot of sellers for them.
  18. Mickleover is going to be featured in Model Rail in the April issue. I cannot wait to see the finished article.
