Thanks chaps
I was really worried about this one as it did cost
-
Thank you chaps
Matthew, I shall really look forward to seeing that.

Hi there
Yeah, I mean it was a nice model to start off with (mind you the split chassis is a bug bare mind!)
But is generally a nice enough model and the detail work is fairly minor in regards to other projects (i.e the Hornby 9F)
I would just becarefuly with the smoke box door handle as it has only a slight purcahse of the plastic I created with a drill bit and some non gental handling displaced it which caused some swaering but that should okay now.
After looking at some of these pcitures there were some furtyher mods I made which I'm about to blog now.
-
I would explored this forum and others too you'll find loads of help and support. I got back into the hobby a few years back and felt it was going to be a bit of a tall order to get my modelling up to scratch. I haven't really looked back now .

Im keeping my eye on you boyo

Cheers for the heads up.
Ive had to do abit more work on it tonight due to the type of Tender I wanted to depict. It's something I wasn't expect but has been quite enjoyable to fathom out and I think I've sort of worked on the twist though it still there just hopefully not as noticable.
Hmmm, Ill have a look.but I cant remember seeing any.
As soon as Ive got a chance to I add another blog.
Apart from that the service has been really good.

I remember getting the Dambuster's Lancaster (my next door neighbour when I was a child armed Manchesters and Lancaster in 207 sqn). So the Lancaster has been a long favourite of mine. Unfortunatly my lancaster never survied by childhood exploits though I may wish to build another again.
Was that a West Wings kit Devondynosaur?
I think that would be a great idea. I appreciate that this is a model railway forum but I can't see why we should show off our non railway exploits!

Top marks man.

Top work on the 94xx man! In fact top work on the 45xx too... you can have it in any colour you want, unless PMP say he wants it black, then you really haven't got much of an argument. Sorry
-
Why thank you, I've had them lined up, they look quite good, I've love to do a longer train (as they were about 30/40 wagons in real life) but compromises must take hand. Plus I'm not building another 20 of them just yet!
-
Yeah they're really handy tbh. Especially if you have issues with painting small letters and numbers (Which I tend to have) I did paint on "No buffer" on one of the wagons though after I rubbed the transfer off by accident.
-
Geez thanks guys.
Yeah now I come to think of it maybe it would have been better to have done that devon. I think it was just trying to find the space to fit "Peterbrough" which forced me to go there! I'll keep that in mind for the future though.
I must admit that I did cheat for the chalk marks and Model Master do a nice three sheet pack with destinations, instructions and warnings for wagons. These I did use.
The only issue I had, and found a begger to disguise was that the varnish wasn't as proective as I had hoped. Maybe I should have left it dry longer (I left it a minimum of 24 hours) or it was now going dud but when I rubbed at the weathering to expose the chalk writing some of the varnish peeled away and took the transfers off. So just be aware guys. I used Humbrol Matt cote, and matt varnish. The matter varnish seemed to have worked better for this job.
But thnak you for your kind and very helpful comments chaps, I'll leave you with those lniks you've asked for... the top one is the link to my general modelling blog which should contain everything you've asked for the others a more specific to this project.

The 9f is my beloved railroad update

Cheers guys, you;ve actually got me thinknig there AJ247! I wouldn't mind doing a micro layout based around a small part of a depot.

Hi there Mike. I'm affriaf my 9F is very much finish as far as I'm concerned. Hpwever, if you're still willing to I would very much be interested if you wouldn't mind (for future possible projects!)
-
Oh I hadn't even started weathering the bodies here. Unfortunatly, my matt cote hadn't provided the protected it needed to on one of my palvans so when I came to applying the wash it went all funny so I might come back to that one but I'm now down one palvan which left me very irritated. Anway I went over the kit wagons in humbrol matt varnish. I'm severely hoping that this doesn't let me down (I had used it on the 13 tonners for the tanker train to good effect!)
-
Nice recovery!
-
I think clean joint may have been one problem but the brass/high temp solder won't take to my soldering iron (variable temp). The 70 degree stuff is fine that will happily take and appkie itself but the 145 degree stuff just runs away and if I can get it on, just blobs everywhere.
I'll get a picture of the current state of it to show you mate.
-
Cheers chaps. I think next up is a rake of box vans and I'm going to try and re-work my esso tankers from before to try and get them exhibitionable!
-
Thank you kindly guys.
I was priming it and all went well first, then about 10 minutes later (beleive it to be 15) picked it up to check it out, once I had realised I had my thumb print on it I tried to repray over it but was a little too close and had the paint running down the sides. So in a little fit I threw it on the table. So now the coal rails are a little bit wobbly and I need some new new hand rails. It's also been stripoped back for a re-try later on. I hate it when accidents are my fault. Hopfully it won't look too bad though.
I know, I'll keep being told off about you guys for using those coupling but I do think once painted and weathered they won't look so bad.
Yeah, it was the gauge master stuff I used (Bit of a first timer here so I have no clue how good/bad it is!) the corner were simple just filed back with some old needle files. I'm having a bit of an issue with brass soldering at the moment though.
-
Oh and thanks for the info scanman
-
Thabnks you very much guys. I can't say it was heavenly to update. It's been a bit of a nightmare and was a minor cause of a few personal issue but it's done now and I'm relatively happy with the outcome!

Thank you very mjuch guys, it's a real inspiration to recieve good feedback from people I truly look up to

I've seen much worse lining from more professional modelers!
