  1. Silly question, BUT: Are the outside steam pipes on 4-cyl locos like Kings, Castles, Duchesses etc. the intake or the exhaust pipes for the outside cylinders? Many thanks.

      Bit boring but explains it.....but not where the exhaust pipes go and that seems to be inwards from both cyclinders!!!!!  However, I have learned more from this than I ever knew...doh! You were correct that those big pipes are the steam inlets. However that is fine for straight steam pipes; what about these elbow pipes where the exhaust is not directly in line with the blast pipe? I can't see any other pipes. There must be 4 pipes all joining up somewhere out of sight between the frames?

      I guess so?I've been trying to find pictures of cylinder castings from 4-cyl locos but not much success yet
