  1. Does anyone happen to remember which A4 was cannibalised for parts when 'Mallard' was handed over to the NRM?

It definitely swapped it's tender and some other parts with another A4. I've a feeling it was Andrew K Mc Cosh. It originally had a non corridor tender but when withdrawn had a corridor tender.

Ironically Miles Beevor had the record breaking tender which Mallard used for the record. It was preserved as a spare. But it was scrapped in the early 1970s.

The story I've read many times over the years was that Miles Beevor was the donor loco for A4 4498, Sir Nigel Gresley.  I'll have to plead ignorance about any donor loco for 4468 Mallard.  I didn't know that story about the tender though.  Seems a rather sad loss.

60026 donated its driving wheels to 4498/60007, and its double chimney casing to 4489/60010 Dominion of Canada. 4498's chimney had been swiped for either 60024 or 60008.
