  1. 2sessions in at the Wakefield Show and layout working well. Had lots of positive comments which are welcome considering the late hours the team have put into the construction and finish. Many thanks for all who come to the show and here are a few images of the layout now with stock!
  2. Help! Wakefield Show this coming weekend and the Helijan container crane has stopped working. There is power to the hoist section but the hoist, spotlight and magnet do not work. Anyone any ideas?
  3. Strange as on the iPad they are the right way up and I think Richard puts his on via laptop. Will have to experiment. Spent the evening making more mounds of scrap from aluminium foil cubes
  4. Looking across container yard access cabin, canal, signal box to scrap yard. The bridges span a canal
  5. Scrap yard starting to fill up but will need another session in front of the telly making more scrap
  6. Busy morning adding bits and pieces Signal or control cabin modelled loosely on Castleford Box
  7. For For most of the club members it means not running on coal ( big generalisation before I get comments) but runs end of EWS and into the smaller freight companies that have come and gone. One of the team is an excellent re sprayer of locos and is looking forward to this stock being seen on the circuit. Another has just finished his training for a company that has blue locos and operates quite interesting formations with older locos so look out for special trains as the layout develops in the future.
  8. Eh! They look alright on the iPad, but on the exhibition page they do seem to gain a vertical dimension!
  9. Old mill awaits an upturn in the economy and being turned into luxury flats
  10. Overgrown siding in scrap yard awaiting cripples and the occasional engine. Always dodgy parking up a Class 66
  11. Canal having had another round of scenics added
  12. Thanks, one week to the show and more detailing to complete. Will take a few more snaps this evening before layout carted and readied for the show next Friday
  13. More sample images of the layout.
  14. Sample images of layout set up in club rooms awaiting lighting pelmet.
  15. New Wakefield Railway Modellers Society new modern image layout. Based loosely in West Yorkshire the layout has a medium sized container yard with working crane, signing on point / small depot and scrapyard. The aim of the layout is to provide mainline running of typical trains running through the area. It's first full show will be the 52nd Wakefield Model Railway Show Friday 29th Nov, Sat 30th and Sun 1st Dec.

Yeap model of the Jordan Spreader Plough so thought would go one size up!
  17. Off work with chest infection, day time TV is terrible, never done a blog before so thought would give it a go. Working to convert a partially built Walthers Russell Plough to WC 301 that might end up having a few runs on WRMS Menasha layout which will be appearing at the Pontefract show 26/27th Jan 2013. This is one of the prototype photos being used. Starting point for the conversion Removal of all moulded on detail and detached side ploughs ready to be cut down Inserted packing pieces and channel to create lip. Added strengthening piece to rest of side Side plough cut down and test fitted, angled piece added to bottom of plough. Door window blocked in and ready for filler 24thjan Back at work today so little progress made, run out of small strip material and was easy to nip to Wakefield Model and Craft Centre but is closing down so will have to find a new source for those bits and pieces Added inset gas bottle cage to side and re modelled the cupola as per the image. Additional strapping added to Plow. Saturday Great day exhibiting at the Pontefract Show, thankfully for the show the snow is has melting so model Plow will not be running but if in or around Pontefract they could do with your support Sunday Good numbers at show today and met by the rest of the Menasha team that layout had won a trophy for best non British layout in show! Bought some horns and ordered freight steps for the plow Tuesday 29th Jan Mixed faded Wisconsin central maroon to cover the yellow of the kit. Colour is maroon with humrol flesh acrylic added. Has dried flat. Wed 30 th long day at work so unwound by making winter windows, gas bottles and painting gas bottle area. Cut slots under door sills. Friday 1st Feb steps and bits came in post from Model Junction so able to complete the shell and details ready for completing paint job then glazing of cab. Although faded colours prototype images. Indicate not a lot of rust or weathering Monday 4 th Feb final bits and pieces have arrived and can now finish details and complete paint job
  18. Hi I have used the concrete version to reproduce rendered walls of buildings. I found that it stuck well to plastci card if the surface was slightly roughen and I gave the surface a light sanding when throughly dry. If you search on the layout strand for Menasha the warehouses to the left of the river bridge have this textured surface
