  1. A recent fitment, not sure when, not on the train when I am modelling it in the 1990s, also has had the buckeye coupling removed. The observation has also had a crest fitted to the handrails since original conversion.

Merfyn, do you have any drawings which show which windows were change/modified for the c1990 Scotsman. I can't find my notes at the moment but I am planning on doing the Observation car, 2x State cars and the first Pullman kitchen car. I have all the correct donors to hand just cannot find enough info to start chopping about.

Following both these RS builds with interest!

  2. Now if they did the Overland I might get the West Coast PCO I need!!

Accidentally sent Auscision an email for two more A class off the next run - Still not sure how I have justified A66 in V/Line MK3 though.............................

  3. Always interested in Aussie prototype models, especially Victorian Railways. One day i will actually build my Aussie project, I have about three boxes of various loco's & stock form around 2000, pretty much all EM'd . They get a run out on Broadford in the UK every now and again! Iain actually has one of my N sets of semi permanent loan!

  4. Looking good!

The opportunity was taken to put some appropriate stock on the layout. First up was the new rake (or should that be half rake) of HTA's behind 60074, Teenage Spirit has indeed turned up on the Fiddler's Ferry workings in this livery (albeit with the nose end DB stickers). Thanks goes to RS4 of this forum for this rake, however I am already thinking it looks a bit short. This may have to be gradually upgraded to 19.

You'll have to push it up to 23 with a buffered one one each end for a full rake! I remember having the buffered sets moved over from Scunthorpe when it was first trialed to remove HAA's, started with 21 sets and soon pushed up to 23's, even got 23's on the LBT-Ratliffe's. 66 would only lift 21 out of LBT (19 in the rain), 59 would take 23 (think it was only 21 in the rain) & if it was a Ratcliffe it would only take 22 due to the route via Uttoxeter. Such a shame so many of these coal trains no longer run. Overall the 60's moved more coal on that circuit with less trains than anything else.

  5. Sorry if this has already been answered, but i think it's safe to say the only livery I can think of the 47s haven't been in is Rail Freight Coal. The class has had just about every livery you can think of put on it at some point. Just as a side note, it's the only class to have had all 508 members carry BR blue at the same time with no other liverys being applied to the class till large logo was introduced.

    Dave.

There were 512 47's so 4 never carried BR, so the whole class didn't carry BR Blue. There are a few other Liveries that 57's never carried:

    Regional Railways

    Load Haul (either version)

    Transrail (either version)

    Mainline Freight (either version)

    EWS/EW&S

RF General (only carried by 50149/37104 & 86/6's, There was another 37, 67X that carried it but only for publicity pictures)

Then there are more of the 'post privatisation' liveries (GNER/GBRF), I have only listed the ex BR and first round of Privatised liveries I can remember.

  6. I'm just thinking what I can renumber the Mainline 37242 too when it comes out......167,074 maybe.

A lot are ruled out by having headlight clips or marker lights.

Try 37203 (requires frost grills), also 37274 (37308) but would need addition of WR lamp irons. Watch out with 074/167, they're both RSH ones with the additional banding on the roof grills. 074 is also ex split box so doesn't have the plate above the draw gear on the nose end that proper center panel ones do.
