  1. Lived there all my life Indeed they are - there's an old sign still in place in the undergrowth at Beamish station warning of the crane jib - keep meaning to undo it and bring it home otherwise it's just going to rust away
  2. Just checked and it's working fine for me in Safari on an iMac. John
  3. Found that the other day as it happens when I was starting research in to it. The location is particularly attractive as the distance between the two bridges at either end of the junction works out at around 16-17ft so a manageable size and the fact that I live around 10 minutes from the location and can remember the trains in the late 70s early 80s. I didn't realise that the builders were on the forum and I couldn't find any contact information on the blog. John
  4. Superb stuff again. I've just made the decision that my 'large' P4 layout will be of South Pelaw junction so just a bit further down the line than your dad is modelling... John
  5. Great stuff Peter, the 5th pic down of the DMU is particularly effective... John
  6. In an effort to actually finish something now and again, I also do single figure vignettes: John
  7. Great work on the track work it took me all my time to put one P4 turnout together John
  8. As Scalefour North is one show I'll definately be attending next year, I look forward to seeing the progress. John
  9. Having just found this thread from a link on the Scalefour forum, I've spent the last couple of hours reading the whole thing and I take my hat off to you Ron, this is THE most amazing styrene work I have ever seen... John
  10. Got to see this in the flesh today and I have to say the that the pics do do not it justice. Beautifully presented, I could have just looked at it for hours. What impressed me the most was the superb slow running of the locomotives with no stalling or jerky running to be seen at all. Here's a small selection of the pics I took: My hat is off to all those involved in its construction. John
  11. Looking forward to seeing this at Railex NE... John
  12. Congrats on the article in MRJ, I've just read it through. John
  13. Probably but not always, I do have a couple of pics of fixed hammerhead cranes. You got me there - the plastic barrels were replaced with brass ones and I really couldn't be bothered with the hassle of getting them all exactly level Cheers John
  14. Here's some of what I've been doing before returning to railways: John
  15. You missed them - from the original post: "Poynton Sneer is just a tad under 5 feet in length" John
  16. Looks superb Jon - I'm thinking of a plank/dio as a test before I jump in to my full size project in P4 and this one has certainly given me some ideas... Love the Deltic - my layout is set in the North East in 1980 so plenty of chance for Deltic hauled trains John
  17. Just read through the whole thread - fantastic work Leon, it's got real atmosphere... John
  18. Just registered to be able to post on this thread This is beautiful work, I can see the route of the Consett line from my house and I'm about 15 minutes walk from the site of Beamish Station and Stella Gill sidings. The line also ran past the playing fields of the comprehensive school I used to go to in the very early eighties when trains were still running. John
