  3. Just a thank you to Steven and his team for another good show as always. That was The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point's last show in Scotland in its large version. I should note it made its debut (in its short version) some years ago now at Ayr so an appropriate venue for its last show. Max
  4. The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point now set up at Ayr for its last appearance in Scotland in its large format. The 1st show the layout ever attended was Ayr and therefore its appropriate to have its last large format appearance in Ayr. Max
  5. The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point (in its large format) will be making its last appearance in Scotland this coming weekend (21st/22nd September) at the Ayr Model Railway Show. After Ayr, it will be stored away for over a year and will make its final ever appearance (in large format) at Warley 2020. After that I will be breaking it up and perhaps thinking of something new - eventually!! Max
  6. 'The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point' will be making its last appearance in Scotland in its large format at this Ayr show. Max
  7. Just back this afternoon with The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point (we stayed over in Preston last night - too far to travel in 1 go!!). I must express my thanks to all involved in the show - myself and my team were well impressed. We got some very positive comments about the layout which makes it all worthwhile. We had a handheld go in the first hour on Friday but meticulous attention given to it by Andrew from my team soon had it up and running again and we could then run a more normal service of coal trains set in South Ayrshire. Thanks again to the organisers and also the assistance we got from some of those in the Soar Valley Model Railway Club in operating the layout and the clear down at the end of the show. Max
  8. The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point will be attending the show - oo gauge. I have 4 operators for the Friday and 5 for the Saturday and Sunday. I have 3 other spaces for operators if anyone is interested. I would really appreciate some assistance to allow us to have a short break now and then during the show. If you are travelling from afar then there is likely to be hotel space going aswell. The layout is dcc and the operating system is ztc and simple to learn if you haven't used it before. If you (and perhaps a colleague) would be interested in assisting and getting access to the show, please send me a PM as soon as possible. There are a number of R M Webbers who have commented on the layout and perhaps would like to operate. I can send on details of the layout and the control system if required. Many thanks and hopefully some of you can assist - Max
  9. The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point has an outing on the 14th, 15th and 16th June at the Great Central Railway / Soar Valley Model Railway Club show at Quorn. I have 4 operators for the Friday and 5 for the Saturday and Sunday. I have 3 other spaces for operators if anyone is interested. 10. NittenDormer - thank you for your comments re my layout. It is much appreciated. Open frame construction was used to achieve the non flat earth look. Thanks - Max
  11. The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point ready for van loading around 10am tomorrow and we should be at the SEC around 1230 having travelled all of 3 miles after a tea break!! Lets hope its a good one as Dave has stated. Max
  12. Caradoc - we are stand C29 at the back left hand corner of the hall. Max

  14. I think the layouts name was Dagworth and was presented by Andi Dell in 2010. Fellow DEMU members can confirm. Max
  15. Caradoc - thanks for the comments. It is much appreciated. The layout was built with various timeframes in mind ie rail blue, trainload and the fairly recent scene ie GBRF, EWS and Freightliner. However, while I have a reasonable number of rail blue 20s, and a few blue 37s and 47s, they are not chipped, or more importantly, sound chipped so the trainload era remains the main focus. A lottery win however could change the complexion entirely!! As with the offer to Imsforever, by all means say hello at the show and you are more than welcome to see the layout from the other side. Max
  16. Thanks for the comments. Please identify yourself at the show and I am sure we can arrange to let you see the workings from behind or even operate for a spell!!!! Max
  17. The Glasgow and West of Scotland MRC had originally intended to display their brand new OO gauge layout - Reid Street - at this show, but due to a major fire in an adjacent building to our clubrooms last year and the subsequent soot, smoke and water damage, this layout and 2 others - Glenburn and St Ann's Depot were all written off and the consequence is that The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point will now be representing the club instead. I have attached a few photographs taken by Nigel Burkin of the layout and if you enjoy the sounds of Class 37s, 56s and 60s then this layout will have them in number. Thanks - Max Fowler
  18. Can't believe its a week since the show closed and we started dismantling and packing up. A good show was had by all in the Glasgow and West of Scotland MRC with my layout - The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point. Thanks to Stan for the initial invite and and his team for a great show. Will be at Perth next year myself on the demo stand of Scottish Modellers. Max
  19. The Maxwell Colliery Loading Point is loaded and we are about to leave Glasgow in the next 30 mins.. Max Fowler
  20. Hi Max, Hope you get better soon! It was great talking to you last year at GETS at the Motor Museum. When I find them, I will foward you a copy of the photos I took of the layout at the event! You said you were disappointed that no-one was going to publish any on the web. Have Bachmann sorted your problematic Class 37? Best Wishes for a speedy recovery! C. thank you C for your comments. Its a waiting game but 1 eye is better than none. Any pictures would be appreciated from GETS. Bachmann found nothing wrong with the 37 so we will see if it performs at Perth in a few weeks. hopefully catch up with you again sometime. Max
  21. its been quiet on here, but the layout is going to appear next at the Perth Model Railway Show on 24th/25th June. Still to go over everything but have spent the last week in hospital as my type 2 diabetes has caused partial damage to the no 3 nerve from the brain which has meant that my left eyelid and eye have dropped with the result that I currently have double vision and have to black out said eye to allow me to see. It will not stop me with the layout etc it just means I can't drive for potentially some 3 to 6 months to it repairs itself. If your coming to Perth say hello - I will be the one with the eye patch and I am currently investing in a crutch and parrot to look like a pirate!!!! Max
  22. no words describe same and if there was an 'oscar' or 'nobel' prize for railway modelling this model must win it. Max
  23. Phil - thank you for your kind comments. It was enjoyable for us aswell to bring the layout down from its home in Glasgow. Hopefully we may a chance to bring it south again. Max
  24. well - that's 'The Great Electric Train Show' over and the layout safely back in Glasgow. A good weekend was had by all although there were some issues with a few locomotives. A class 37 bought at Perth in June (pre-chipped by Bachmann) and put on the tracks for the first time, lasted a couple of hours and the sound and horns etc failed. Bachmann heard from me at the show and soon will hear from me by phone and in writing. Some other locos were misbehaving aswell and consigned to the stock box as the weekend went on. we had a few gremlins with the ZTC aswell and 1 of the handhelds locked would lock the locomotive horns on which drew some attention!! ignoring the above, this was a very good show and I must thank the organisers for the invite, my operating team for their assistance and the various public who commented on the layout. It was videoed by various people but unfortunately they don't post anything on youtube so I can't get any link. We had a good weekend and crowd numbers seemed high particularly on the Saturday morning. Max
  25. Thanks Mark. Currently in Crewe for the final leg tomorrow. A lot of the fleet attributes ie sound are down to yourself. Max
