  1. Why are Chelsea chasing tall strikers who are injury prone or ageing - they might as well re-sign Drogba......
  2. Good spot. That's the recently installed VAR camera which records all "incidents of foul play" from a variety of angles for review if necessary.....
  3. It looks like the new Thomas film is going to have some "adult themes" if this scene involving feisty Becky the Bulleid and the Fat Controller is anything to go by:
  4. R.I.P. Rodney Fern passed away with dementia having played in the same era as Jeff Astle. He will be remembered in Leicester, Rotherham and Chesterfield as a very good honest journeyman professional. I remember him scoring for Leicester in an epic F.A.Cup replay against Manchester City in 1968 when we came back from 2-0 down to lead 4-2 before Colin Bell scored a third for Man.City and also for a spectacular overhead kick goal against Birmingham City a couple of years later.
  5. At least King Harold was once a Star (4030) from 1909 to 1927, he then became the Swedish Monarch until 1940. He survived in anonymity until May 1950, so some bits of him may have made it into the earliest ABCs.
  6. Translation: A great kiss* of eternity from Robin encourages President Macron to loan the Bayeux Tapestry to ANTB as a replacement backscene........ *other meanings available apparently
  7. I've become a convert to VAR tonight, although I didn't realise it could be used to overrule flag happy linesmen (assistant referees) waving for incorrect offsides*. It does take a bit of time to get the right decision (68 seconds). Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City scores the first VAR awarded goal in English football. * (although be to fair the linesman (assistant referee) in this case was only wrong by a heel )
  8. Never mind we'll be disembarking from the ferry on arrival at Portskewett Pier in few moments and catching a train from South Wales back to Brent shortly afterwards.
  9. Somewhere near the end of the pier on this map is where it should have been but I've no idea if it ever was there. Not many clues from this aerial shot that the place ever had much importance apart from the stump of a pier and the avenue of trees marking the railway alignment.
  10. Good to see (not) that some parasitic hedge funds have "made" circa £200M. by"betting" that the share price would collapse over the past few months.
  11. Ably assisted by Everton's abysmal defending in managing to concede the "same goal" three times in just over half an hour. I wonder if the Allardyce managerial "bounce" has now faded away.
  12. He used to live round the corner from SWMBO's parent's house so we used to bump into him quite often. You could also spot him in "Nite Clubs" in Leicester city centre on Friday nights before Leicester City's home games on the Saturday. I've no idea how he got away with it, but he must have kept himself fit and relatively injury free, despite not wearing shin pads, as he was still playing in the lower divisions of the Football League aged about 40. Probably the 2nd most skillful and entertaining player I've seen play in a Leicester City shirt at his peak circa 1974 when he got his England caps.
  13. I couldn't help noticing in the aftermath of the Coutinho £142M. mega transfer that our own "want away" Riyad Mahrez has a slightly better goal scoring and assists record than Coutinho over the last two and half seasons whilst playing for a much inferior team. Coutinho - 28 goals and 18 assists. Mahrez - 30 goals and 21 assists. In the current transfer market I can't help thinking that Leicester should be looking for rather more than the £50M. they were holding out for in last summer, especially now that Mahrez has stopped sulking and is back to his Premiership winning form (to try and get a move?). I hope he stays at Leicester though as he is easily the most skillful and entertaining individual ever to have played for the club.
  14. The Friends of ANTB Association have been busy over the festive period remodelling/repainting the station building and modifying the station signage to make future visiting Southern Railway stock feel more at home on ANTB. They have also laid a new avoiding line so that GWR stock can pass by virtually unremarked when the occasion demands it.
  15. Disrespect the opposition, disrespect the competition, disrespect your own club's fans - well done Arsene,..... Too arrogant to even have an adequate "insurance policy" on the bench in case things go a bit pear shaped, but well played Forest.
  16. Well the week didn't turn out too badly after all......with our stiffs taking Man.City's 3rd XI all the way to penalties in the League Cup, only to blow the shootout with two poor penalties... hey-ho.... but last night's 94th minute equalising goal against Man.Utd. felt like a winning goal, after being under cosh for long periods of the game and reduced to 10 men in the second half - thank goodness for Man Utd's p*ss poor finishing though.
  17. Stop press 2 - Crystal Palace score their first away Premier League goal of the season......and their second..... and their third.....pathetic performance by my team Leicester this lunch time but never mind this week gets easier with just the two Manchester teams to play before Christmas......eek....
  18. As per the Antonio Conte Book of Foreign Managers Excuses: "...the fixture schedule is hectic........player tiredness....having to play and travel in the Champions League is difficult.... player jet lag.......having to play in the League Cup is inconvenient......squad size is too small......having to play in the F.A.Cup is difficult....... player weariness.......I couldn't sign the players I wanted to in the summer.....player fatigue........player exhaustion.........player sleepiness.........player drowsiness.......player doziness........player listlessness......player lethargy......player languidness.......player sluggishness.....player lifelessness,,,,,,,,player torpor.......player inertia.................." He is becoming more than a bit tedious with his endless stream of excuses and is already saying his players will be fatigued by the time they play Barcelona in February. Button it for a bit and crack on with your main job Antonio which is trailing Man City by a considerable margin at the present time.
  19. I wouldn't mind betting that the HLF's Nottingham based regional officer has been desperately trying to dump the Leicester museum funding commitment ever since he realised they were over-committed going forward. Not really a surprise that a "Leicester" project has been dumped, as since 2011, Nottingham has been "awarded" £25.5M of HLF money, little Lincoln awarded £18M, and even diddy Derby has been awarded over £13M, whilst Leicester has received only £9M over the same time period.
  20. Apparently a Ben Toner isn't allowed to referee at Blackpool but they are allowed to run the club....
  21. I much prefer the first person narrative style used in this Hornby Magazine article to the man on a (bad) phone reporting from Peterborough (or wherever) style of the Model Rail article. Good to see the Finchings returning to centre stage (well stage extreme left) in a double page spread, but Robin should have got the Finching sisters to change out of their dirty stockings before the shoot, as it could lead to the ANTB thread attracting the wrong sort of fetishists followers......
  22. Every cloud has a silver lining as we may get another chance to see Jake Livermore and his range of passing ........assessed as "weak" on a couple of stats sites.....
