  1. Metallica's natural "home" in this country is probably Donnington, but Eavis has been "brave" this year with his headline acts by inviting them and the Les-tah lager louts. Certainly the mosh pit will be livelier than last year when that firm of Dickensian undertakers (Mumford and Sons) provided the perfect cure for insomnia.......zzzzzzzzzzz
  2. There's pics on the Web of Mr Bowen playing what looks to be an AX-7 Midi Keytar made by Roland. I must admit I wasn't observant enough to note what he was playing today, as I was listening for the young lady's vocal performance after that earlier lukewarm revue.
  3. It might just be a variation on a "Keytar" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_keytarists although yer man is low profile on "Wiki"
  4. Don't shoot messenger or should that be the piano player in the case - I'm just managing/lowering expectation levels
  5. Mention of a Doctor Who "character"? ......Rob might need the Tardis tonight to get to Glastonbury by 20.00 hours tonight to see his fave band - http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/programmes/schedules Edit: The above is a bit wrong as the Tardis will need to travel back to 12.15 earlier today Review: "Blondie are still a souped-up monster truck of a band – even if the air-horn has gone a bit wheezy" Unfortunately, Blondie suffer from that frustrating and fast-spreading affliction of New Waver’s Tonsil – the inability of post-punk-era singers to wallop it out like they used to. At 68, Deborah Harry’s insouciant snarls have shrivelled to frail, stilted wobbles, and she can only manage a shadow of the bellows from Atomic and Call Me, so a good-natured air of anticlimax pervades." Oh dear.....
  6. Is this the one? The Google translation of the front cover approximates to: " A Nod to Brent - the REvolution of the People's Favourite GWR Layout - a Chinese perspective" by M. Zedong. Sounds a bit of a dull read to me ......and I'm told the author is a little dogmatic.
  7. I think he's going to have to miss that "course" due to his ban, but he might be able to bite a "Dickov", if still in the country, and fit enough to turn out for Liverpool in the Doncaster Rovers v Liverpool 3rd Round F.A.Cup Tie next January. It would break new ground though - his first managerial meal.
  8. Rob, SWMBO has accidently seen these beach pics (sorry), she said: "That end of the beach looks more like the remains of a hastily improvised tank trap with the three "vertical" faces in succession than a family friendly beach. It just needs a pill-box/gun emplacement to sweep the rest of the beach." I had no inkling that my wife was an expert in improvised beach military defence works until now.
  9. There is a silver lining for Suarez - his autobiography is apparently published on 25th September http://www.amazon.co.uk/Luis-Suarez-My-Autobiography-Pistolero/dp/147222423X - so he will be available for an extensive book signing tour probably as part of a desperate bid to prevent it being "remaindered" in record time.
  10. Suarez has been banned for 9 official International Matches and banned for 4 months from any football activity. That's Liverpool slightly b**g*red until November if it means what it says.
  11. ANTB has needed a tunnel for some time..........now could be the time a tunnel and beach access in one fell swoop. (Ilfracombe)
  12. I seem to recall Michael Owen developed a habit of falling over if an Argentinian came near him in a World Cup Finals, but as it was Argentina I didn't care at the time and still don't. Might be something to do with "The Hand of God" I suppose.
  13. Is it Pilchards Cove Naturist Beach at the Strete end of Slapton Sands? I believe accessing that beach is also very difficult.
  14. I managed to locate my other LMS ramblings from 140 pages ago in case the Angry Duck wants to add them to his "database": Below is the start of my BR interpretation of a three coach ex-LMS formation working the Machester/Liverpool to the West Country circuit using the available Hornby 3rd and Brake 3rd and a couple of cheaply sourced Comet Composites to base it on 1930s Coach Diagrams: Mogul working the three coach formation past Laminate Wood with the two Hornby coaches nearest the camera. Comet 60' LMS Composite to Diagram 1925/1969. This one built in 1936 according to the Comet notes - just less than 400 examples built - running numbers 3934-4329. I think I might have got carried away with the roundel and yellow roofline markings but it's due in the workshops eventually for fitting passengers. Rattlecan paint finish turned out well for once. Comet 57' LMS Composite to Diagram 1903. With hindsight I should probably have sold this kit on as it is an Open Composite, which were rare beasts on the LMS. This is the most numerous Diagram, but still numbers less than 30 in total. Probably for excursion use in future, as I shall keep it as it was the first Comet kit I ever "finished" and was door handle and droplight friendly, unlike a lot of GWR coaches. Rattlecan finish again. A pre-nationalisation LMS rake could be started using the two Hornby coaches as a jumping off point, as they are to Diagrams with 611 coaches(3rd) and 430 coaches (Brake 3rd) built respectively. I'm certain they would have got everywhere as long as their axles weren't breaking too often. The only real issue is matching Hornby's Mud Brown Maroon with another paint finish, unless the Hornby LMS versions have a better finish than Hornby's BR examples.
  15. Forward planning - I thought Coventry City could use it as a beach training base for their proper away matches in Devon in Season 2015-16, if things take a further turn for the worst next season, although looks like the Devon teams are quite keen to exit the League altogether anyway with Torquay going last season.
  16. Is it this model: Not a model I have wrecked in my 'musical' past, although I think I could "lighten" it a bit to make moving it less like manoeuvring a wardrobe filled with coal. Excellent plausible back story, as long as it was carriage paid.
  17. I bet the Finchings would have liked Keith Emerson abusing his Hammond L-100 to make train-like noises whilst playing murdering 'Rondo'. Josiah Sprottlewick must have been quite a lucky chap to be playing a Hammond in the South Hams in 1947 as they were only been manufactured from 1935 onwards.
  18. He fancied an Italian meal this evening?
  19. I thought I'd made a start with some Manchester possibilities for coach diagrams and individual coach numbers in post #4050 but never mind as no one can hear you scream on ANTB
  20. Brazilian Press predicts the England team's much deserved early exit:
  21. The Queen will be pleased that Italians can't always be relied on: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/20/mario-balotelli-england-italy-queen-kiss
  22. "On 20 October 2013, Hodgson and Rio Ferdinand were appointed to the Football Association's commission to improve the state of the national game" (Wiki).......Cracking start then ......unless reaching a 56 year nadir as a starting point was part of the plan.
