  1. Sam and Brian again: We have just received this electronic postcard from our young cousins, who are staying at Butlins Holiday Camp in Minehead, and it has some suggestions for possible motive power for our planned broccoli special. Our cousins made the postcard themselves during a Young Molluscs Computer Aided Photographic Manipulation Activity Session at the Camp. They apologise for using an image of a Large Prairie but they didn't have an image of a Small Prairie to download from their memory stick. Who says molluscs can't cope with modern technology?
  2. Derbyshire Well Dressing and distinctly British subject matter. Unfortunately slightly (weather) battered by the time it was photographed some 6 weeks after dedication - not unlike the R.A.F. on this very day 74 years ago, which was the "Hardest Day" of the Battle of Britain, with the R.A.F and the Luftwaffe each suffering over 100 planes destroyed or damaged during that day.
  3. Three full cattle trucks of broccoli please. To be delivered to Brent Goods Yard before 18.00 hours on Friday.
  4. Actually we're going to stowaway on a lorry full of: The driver has reached his maximum permitted driving hours under EC Regulation 561/2006 and is stopping for the night at Sedgemoor Services (Southbound). So we shall be in Devon early tomorrow morning two years earlier than some estimates . Never ever underestimate terrestrial gastropod molluscs - we have fully assimilated Blitzkreig theory.
  5. Sad news: James Alexander Gordon 0 Heaven 1 R.I.P.James
  6. Hello from Sammy the Slug and Brian the Snail. Remember us ? We would have got in contact with you earlier, but the slime on our antennae plays havoc with our wi-fi connection down here in the Somerset Levels. Currently we are enroute to Captain Kernow's "Slugmageddon" Festival.
  7. Funnily enough Arsenal are next up at the King Power and it's on Sky. I'd take a repeat of the last meeting at our stadium - a 1-1 draw in Arsenal's "Invincibles" season - although hopefully we won't leave until the 91st minute to equalise.
  8. Just been reading some of the balanced and informative newspaper reporting of our first game back in the Premiership after a ten year absence. A rough summary follows Ross Barkley was injured before the game. Ross Barkley took no part in the game. How will Everton cope without Barkley? Naismith played instead of Barkley. Naismith says Everton will cope without Barkley. Everton have enough strength on the bench to replace Barkley. Martinez confident Everton will cope without Barkley. Barkley may be back soon says Martinez. The score? Leicester 2 Everton (apparently without Ross Barkley) 2 .
  9. This is a continuation of the occasional "From a Bedroom Window" series featuring standard GWR buildings and structures in unusual locations. Although it clearly cannot compete with a GWR Pagoda Shelter in Linz, this is our humble earth closet constructed from a "kit" of substandard galvanised corrugated panels rejected by GWR quality control. It was taken out of use in 1987, when mains water and sewerage finally made it to our village, but it still has most of it's user advice notes pasted to the back of the door. These are reproduced below with apologies for the slightly blurred reproduction.
  10. Last time was 2010. A further view of the Mawddach from the southern bank with the more substantial bits of Barmouth bridge just visible in the distance.
  11. A view from the Precipice Walk, Dollgellau of the Afon Mawddach looking west to Barmouth Bay. The view from the garden of our accomodation across the Mawddach looking towards Cader/Cadair Idris. The Mawddach Trail follows the far (southern) bank of the river.
  12. Is that Sky Blue Sam in the Third Tier Row? Note the excellent Fox in the front row. Sam did well in the Mascot Race though and made the Play-offs in 4th place behind Yorkie the Lion, Billy Brewer and Chaddy Owl. Better stop now before Olddudders pops by and says this sort of stuff has no place on a serious GWR modelling thread. He's quite right.
  13. Don't worry it's not a duck, just a leg scavenged from the old redundant Everton mascot young MasterToffee: He was re-training as a fireman at Tigley, but I couldn't stand his toothless grin (all those toffees) so I sacked him and then ate him. It seems he has been replaced at Everton by: Changy the Elephant, and as a fox I couldn't possibly eat a whole elephant.
  14. Gazing into the Finching's crystal ball reveals this glimpse of the future at Tigley: Rumours are circulating suggesting that the "Seawall" section is to be remodelled yet again to represent Teign Brentmouth Old Quay, complete with a quay siding to give 1363 something useful to do.
  15. Are you sure they are not North Korean ducks as they all look the same and are all doing exactly the same thing to order.
  16. Sky's English Premiership Final Table for the 2014-15 has accidentally been leaked on social media. Mobile phone screenshot below: Very tight at the bottom and they seem to have made a terrible mistake with the relegated clubs. They obviously don't fancy any of the "also rans" attempting to bridge the gap to the elite seven this season, but they may be using the wrong algorithms. Edit: Pulis has messed this table up by leaving before the season has even started and Crystal Palace's final position now needs reviewing.
  17. I'd better cancel this dream sequence then: Jubilation at Tigley Junction Shed as Hornby come up trumps and provide a fully refurbished R143 28xx No.2857 as a replacement for the disgraced 3864. This loco has been completely rebuilt, superdetailed to modern standards and repainted into GWR livery. This loco was due to be allocated to Laira, but Newton have arranged for a temporary transfer to Tigley to assist with the heavy freight loco shortage. 2857 is seen backing onto Tigley Shed with Shedmaster Sweet anxiously watching the tender for signs of smoke, although Hornby have assured him their revised connection system is 100% failure proof.
  18. Probably because that competition gets very little publicity compared to some other one which I believe starts on Saturday. Apparently only 1,576 didn't miss it - a shame really.
  19. A couple of photos taken near here: View of Countisbury Head from Lynton. Looking towards Lynmouth down the East Lyn River from Watersmeet
  20. Looks like an excellent use of the SSMP207 Wills Round Roof Tiles Materials Pack. You will have to tell us your secret method for obtaining that subtle concave angled roof shape without breaking the sheets of material.
  21. "Wish I could join you... With or without a Rhino disguise"......... This is the disguise I was going to wear until I realised the event wasn't being held at the Rhino Arena: Instead I shall be avoiding Rob disguised like this, but with some head foliage added, after visiting the tree and foliage making demonstration at the Ricoh. My backpack will be filled with bricks, as "Exercise Ricoh" is a dry run for the far more dangerous "Operation Warley" later this year, and the bricks are designed to simulate the weight of stock plundered from a surgical strike on the Bachmann Seconds stand.
  22. Oh thank goodness - no need for my Rhino "Number Two" picture after all and I might be able to go to the Rhino Ricoh Arena without a disguise.
