Have toddlers these days got built in voice recorders or something? If they do, I am in some deep excrement...

My wife would notice, make a note and present it in about ten years time.

  9. The points and track on one board work, the points but not the track on the other. I think three out of four isn't a bad start!

  11. So proud of my 3yr lad. He has taken the tender from his Brio 'Henry' and put it in front of 'James' - to make a garrett just like we sae on the Welsh Highland. Is this his first kit bash?

Best get those Brio finescale standards set in stone.

Well we have serious scale issues! The garrett and Mallard are about the same size and run on the same track. And the flat crossing (again copied from the WHR) has both tracks the same gauge!

The new Madder Valley Railway then...?!

It reminds me of something Alan Downes wrote years ago. Something like: "The wife soon got to know about it - and the mother in law knew about it before it had even happened."

  19. Before cutting out the windows of your class 37 make sure you haven't lost the replacement etch. Major fail....

Buy a replacement and then find the original one.

  21. The advantage of having a train mad toddler is that I can play trains for an hour AND get brownie points from SWMBO!!

  22. Does anyone remember the advice on old Farish locos; 'Do not dismantle out of idle curiosity'? Now I know why!

A Farish class 31 (split frame chassis) to find out why it was jerky. A bit tricky to get the driveshafts back in and the bogies connected!

BEMO electric locos are a bit like that as well....

  23. It was Friday night, SWMBO is out, the toddler's fast asleep. So what did I do? Re-organise my modelling bits and pieces drawer! Rock and Roll, living the high life!

  24. First track laid.

  25. Please stop releasing so many lovely models Mr Dapol. My children will have to go without shoes this month.
