  1. Just repainted my first loco. Admittedly unlined black isn't the hardest but I'm still quite pleased with myself

Yes, well done and we're glad you wanted to let us know, even if you feel it's maybe a modest achievement.

Might not be the hardest to do, but its all confidence building, and it inspires you t do more !!

  2. Latest gem from my 3yr old pushing his Brio Thomas forwards and backwards 'I'm just testing. This point is dodgy. I think it must be wired wrong'! I don't know where he gets it from......

Have toddlers these days got built in voice recorders or something? If they do, I am in some deep excrement...

  4. Lesson learnt the hard way today: five minutes cleaning improved performance far more than an hour of reprogramming decoders.

  6. Modelling real locations isn't easy. We have a Brio station, level crossing, tunnel and engine shed. Trying to fit them all on the table to recreate Grosmont is proving tricky!

  11. Please stop releasing so many lovely models Mr Dapol. My children will have to go without shoes this month.

  12. Popped into my local model shop to buy some plasticard and a Ratio kit. Came out with a 47 for me and a 'Thomas' train set for my lad!

  13. Roundy-roundy or terminus and shunting??

Not more choice! The problem is I have two 'prototype based' ideas, a roundy and a terminus!!

  14. Santa's delivery of a rather nice Dapol Manor has turned my BR blue plans to disarray! Maybe I need another layout.....

There's always a need to have more than one layout!....

  15. So excited to try out my new NCE Powercab. Then I discovered it has a US plug. ######

adapt an international adaptor to fit (it's cheaper than buying a new transformer)

I just need to acquire the adaptor first!

Have you got a blackberry phone ? they come with them as the charging lead.

  17. So proud of my 3yr lad. He has taken the tender from his Brio 'Henry' and put it in front of 'James' - to make a garrett just like we sae on the Welsh Highland. Is this his first kit bash?

Best get those Brio finescale standards set in stone.

    3. TomJ

      TomJ

Well we have serious scale issues! The garrett and Mallard are about the same size and run on the same track. And the flat crossing (again copied from the WHR) has both tracks the same gauge!

The new Madder Valley Railway then...?!

  19. Spending the afternoon playing with the Hornby 'Thomas' with my son. I'd forgotten his much fun an oval of track on the floor with one siding and four wagons could be!!

  21. The advantage of having a train mad toddler is that I can play trains for an hour AND get brownie points from SWMBO!!

  24. The points and track on one board work, the points but not the track on the other. I think three out of four isn't a bad start!
