I have similar not good for decoder wire but excelent for beefier bus wire. They will allow you to open up the insulation in the middle of a bus wire run to solder to. Chaz

When I was 9 my uncle, who was a professor of veterinary medicine brought me an Airfix Wellington bomber which I made very badly (glue everywhere). This started a passion for me as a solitary child (long story boarding school) for building Airfix models. I probably built most of the Aircraft military vehicles and had 1000's of the soldiers available in 65-70 plus a few Revell kits. I found out later that the Wellington had a personal link to my uncle as his brother was a rear gunner in a wellington and he died when it was shot down.

I use a track rubber with the corners cut back to fit inside the track and the edges cut to clear the 3rd rail! points are more difficult so I use 5-7mm strips of the track rubber and use them carefully.

Having worked a a university for 34 years as a lab technician (Microbiology and Virology 16 yrs) then a computer officer for 18 years and building 400+ computers i(ncluding 2 25 computer arrays for DNA sequencing). I regularly came across academics who could not undo a nut but others who could build car motors and one who had restored a traction engine . To me it was down to the interest in a particular thing that gave the impetus to learn and try!

I added after ballasting (easier to lay and level ballast!).

It worked fine today! Ordered a body and seating as I have a spare coach someone gave me. Hope its just a straight swap. I can modify the underframe to match. then I will have to renumber the remaining coaches of the 4CEP set.

There are reviews on "Sams Trains" on YouTube. It seems a total piece of cheap rubbish the valve gear in particular.
