  1. One of a number of ECML diversionary routes Jeff.
  2. Good old Oban Inn. Last time I ventured in there was for 55022's 1st visit to Oban, and it was on top form with some beers from Fyne on the go. Ended up in the bar over the road to watch England beat the Aussies in the Rugby World Cup. Cue a quick exit for me & my mate when we cheered at the final whistle following an English win!!! Last time I was in Oban the placed was sadly closed. Al, Glad to be of help....don't know about superior knowledge mind, more just happened to spend a lot of time on the WHL in the 80s and something didn't stick as beng right. Dave
  3. Sorry, pretty sure it's not 1986, looks like 112 lost it's skirts 83/84. It also was in works by March 1986 being converted to 37510. If you trawl through flick river http://www.flickriver.com/search/37112/ you'll see what I mean. Nice evocative photos though...
  4. Probably quite early 1980s as 112 became one of Eastfield's 'experimental' locos for livery, with a very early version of large logo and white stripe which it clearly doesn't sport here. When in this livery the loco's number was bodyside as opposed cabside as I recall, which even included a period with highland terrier being applied cabside. Quite a celebrity at the time. The oleo buffers and skirts also seem to date the photo to early 80s. Looks like typical Oban weather mind! Dave
  5. Looks like Inverness to me after the (ugly in my view) shopping centre had been built. Dave
  6. Hi Peter Agree with Jamie - looks like some form of hydro system to me, similar to the one in Glen Falloch (I think!). Dave
  7. Hi Peter, suggestion for the above; how about the Falls of Lora (or perhaps Lora Falls) which the bridge is very close to (and perhaps a nice challenge for you to model?!). Brings back memories of kayaking here in the early/mids 80s before class 37s took a hold of my life for a few years! Look forward to seeing this develop further. Dave
  8. Think they have sold 21's cab recently, with the cab of 8 being used as the simulator. I don't think there was ever a chance 16 was going to become DP2 when HNRC put it for sale. The original sale from HNRC had a least 3 bidders (that I'm aware of) all of whom intended to use Gordon 'as intended'. The intended sale from this bid never came to frution, and it was a case of 3rd time lucky for Beaver Sports when Gordon was acquired at the end 2009/start of 2010.
  9. Hi Mark, love the layout....enhanced by those 80s tractors that Waverley West has posted! Do you have any more bookings as would love to see this in the flesh. DEMU showcase is out for me sadly as I'l be putting in a 3 day shift volunteering on 1:1 scale stuff at the ELR diesel gala that weekend! Dave

    Loch Dour

Thanks Kev, much appreciated. Charter trains on 'Glen Albyn' will be SRSP maroon livered stock and a certain napier powered mainline loco that I'm involved with that's done a few jobs with our friends at the SRPS....and about to do another one in early December. Dave

    Loch Dour

Hi Kev, I came specifically to Newcastle to see Loch Dour and wasn't disappointed - cracking layout. I'm planning on adapting the the 'dog bone' shape for my own Scottish 80s layout that should commence building before the year is out.....my biggest problem now is how not to duplicate what you've done! You were a bit busy at the time so didn't disturb you, and you'd obviously gone for a brew or bite to eat when I came back. SO just a quick question - what sort of radii have you had to resort to on the curves? Dave
  12. Ian, Given your location "North Norfolk", you might want to pay a visit to the North Norfolk's diesel gala on My 25-7, when the DPS are there with 55019. My guess is they will have a sales stand at the event either on one of the stations (Sheringham?) or on board the trains. We'd certainly be doing that if we were in attendance with D9016 and/or 55022 (afraid we don't stock the book!). I don;t think you'll have any issues with a postal purchase from the DPS ny writing/sending cheque, just as long you remember it's all done by volunteers, so don;t expect immediate dispatch. Think they've recently changed their sales officer. From what I recall of flicking through the book, would imagine it'll be invaluable for you. I don't know if you're a member of the Deltic Yahoo group, but seem to recall someone posted some track plans and things some time ago which might be of help. Good luck with it is it sounds a great project! Dave
  13. Ian, Looks like you can still buy DPS book from them direct: http://www.thedps.co.uk/gallery/album43/FP_Book_Cover I've also seen this for sale at one or two exhibitions over the last 12 months but not sure whom the retailer(s) were. Regards Dave
  14. Thanks for all your responses. Sorry I forgot to say modelling in 4mm. Liking the idea from Chard for my 26s, but definetly need to check how feasible this is with light bleed. The two blue Heljan 26s both came with the plastic headlights, but don't particularly look good. Thanks 37114 for the suggestion on A1 models. MG Sharp's website does list but on available to order basis. Gary, sure I've seen a photo of 37027 on Glenuig with headlight 'blazing' - was this an A1 fitting? There were some interesting variances on location of the headlights, especially on the split box locos, including 37114 with it mounted on the bonnet! Dave
  15. Hi, I'm looking to source some (preferably working) headlights that were the Inverness based class 26s and Eastfield/Inverness class 37s during the 1980s - in the latter case the circular headlights fitting with a bracket, not the high intensity versions fitted to the refurbished versions. So far I've struggled to source anyone that supplies these. If anyone could point me in the right direction or provide some advice on making me own that would be hugely appreciated.... Ta, Dave
