Chris Turnbull
As something a little different to the usual row of levers this is the interior of Cambridge South box on 6th June 1980: Moving down the line towards Ely here's the interior of Coldhams Lane box on the same day: Out in the Fens (you can tell, can't you) here's West River box at Little Thetford in May 1982. LNERGE
This is a quick picture of my compter screen whilst looking at your picture. On the shelf behind the screen are the labels from the gong and the block to Brookfields.. Chris Turnbull My first box i visited in East Anglia was West River. After losing my 'local' boxes in 1976 it must have been around 1978 i got in West River (aged 12) Of course everything looked normal with it's Dutton frame, just like Tempsford and Everton i'd grown up with. It was a shock to find they were the exception not the rule. Edited December 17, 2020 by LNERGE

RMweb Gold Popular Post roundhouse Posted December 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted December 17, 2020 One of my favourites. Note the chimney stack is the only vertical bit of the box. What a name for such a leaning stucture.

And no, it isn't that the photo needs straightening - the crossing gate post is more or less vertical. Chris Turnbull

LNERGE
Funnily enough i had my hands on the Derby Road illuminated diagram yesterday. I seem to recall the signalman on duty the day I took the internal shot of the box saying that the lever frame was likely to be heading there when the place was demolished. Johann Marsbar
You can find some rather "British" looking 'boxes elsewhere in the world as well, particularly when the railways were operated by British based companies... Retiro LSM station, Buenos Aires.... Canuelas station box, Argentina....
