Let me just confirm....

Im good at getting lost in Wakey at the best of times :(

This is the college buildings at the top of the hill past the sports hall where Wakey RMS show is held every year?

Ive been several times but that was by car, so I came the "opposite way round" to what one does when getting off the train at Westgate station.....

Spot on! Up the hill from the Wakefield club sports centre venue and turn right!

Always worth a visit, a good friendly show and the embodyment that P4 is not about wearing the hair shirt - will be there on Saturday to get some of the final bits for the construction of North Ballachulish, and later at the Kings Arms, Heath. No change there then :D

Craig is too modest to mention that he is one of the demonstrators. It's a good show regardless of that! I will be there on Saturday but don't let that put you off.

Chris

Am I, ######! :P Yes if anyone does want to know about finescale wagon building or etching come and see me :).

Its a really good show for anyone dismissing it as 'too small'. You can learn an awful lot from some very experienced people and get closer to some great layouts than you normally would at a bigger show with barriers, its also got as much specialist trade as the 4mm finescale modeller should ever need.

There aren't many shows at which John Brighton will help you build a chassis either!

All things being equal I'll be by on Sunday - though not with a hair shirt, should i ask what you were looking for to find that vaguely disturbing article?

As people do mention them from time to time, metephorically, I just Googled 'Hair Shirt' to see if they're available literally.

At least it shows that there are stranger people than us out there.

All the Best

Lee on the Solent is presented by the South Hants Model Railway Club not as written.

Hi Dave,

the SHMRC website says that the club layouts are Hope under Dinmore and Ogden Fold; Lee-on-the-Solent shows as a member's layout and on its own page it says at the top: "Lee-on-the-Solent is owned by the South East Hampshire Area Group of the Scalefour Society. The contact for information about the layout and for attendance at exhibitions is Ray Hodson. It was Ray that sent the layout details to us, so that's what went on our shows page.

All the Best

Danny

I've persuaded some real dyed in the wool 00/can't see the point of EM or P4 people to go to Scalefour North and they've really enjoyed it! Must say something. Wonderfully laid back atmosphere.

I've demo'd at the show before and part of Botanic Gardens has appeared there and it's a real privilage to have done these. One of my favourite weekends of the year :) Just hoping I can go!

I shall be doing a stint on the Society stand over the weekend and shall be taking the model of Lawrence Hill Signal Box with me. Come and have a chat.

Robin

If you are about on the sunday I most certainly shall - I've been following your build with a great deal of interest (hmm sorry for sounding like a stalker!)

As Gordon A has given my cover away I better come clean!:P Yep i'll be there operating Horselunges. Feel free to come and have a chat, if I look confused though it'll be because I'm trying to work out how to operate the layout properly! Looking forward to one of the best weekends (IMHO) in the modelling callendar.

See you there!

Paul

If you model in 4mm (or any other scale) and can get to this show, then it's well worth it.

Good modelling is always well worth a look and there will be some nice examples at S4N. As has already been said, this show always has a good atmosphere, demonstrators and catering, as well as approachable layout operators and specialist traders.

Careful mentioning tweed jackets Mickey, or you'll encourage Andy C to come in his tomorrow!

I very much regret that I will not witness this display of tweed as Mrs R has made alternative plans for me this weekend which take me well away from the vicinity of Wakefield. I hope S4um North is a rousing success nonetheless.

No sooner said than done Tony. Especially in view of the Scottish theme currently developing in the workshop at Chez Cooper, the Harris tweed is most appropriate.

However I do note a certain unacustomed rise in temperature outside, and the hall does get a tad hot, so in deference to those who like visiting shows without the whiff of unhappy armpit around, i will leave it at home.

Leander you are slipping, a dangerous move particularly as we are likely to be quorate in the GLP. Dont worry i will defend you honour :D

As long as you don't make up for it with a kilt.. :P

I'll be off soon to my hotel anyway with lots of wagons and their bits. Hope people drop by and say hello.

I know its nice and sunny outside now but its still worth popping for a few hours to pick up some useful tips for anyone in the vacinity of the show.

Funny you should mention that....

"Is anything worn under your kilt"

"No, its all in perfect working order"

See you tomorrow in tweed and (punk) kilt!

What an excellent show, worth seeing alone for Burntisland which has got to be one of the most spectacular layouts Ive seen. Modelling a prototype is one thing but modelling a whole dockyard system - tremendous and some superb examples of modelling ships as well. Dewsbury to although a lot of bare baseboards is going to be a real winner when its finished. Longcarse West of course needs no further comment.

now have the remainder of the track to build North Ballachulish, enough coach wheels to do the passeneger stock for it and a Brassmasters milky Bar roof and etchings to convert my 24 to a Scottish variant. A good day out followed by a pleasant lunch at the Kings arms, Heath.
