HO Monon inspired layout

Recommended Posts

Now you've retired, it must be costing you a fortune now there's no free apples!!!!

Only thing I used to get were the Xmas cards from the strange kids who gave them out in September and a bottle of Daddy’s Brown Sauce from the cast of a production I made props for with my class.

My contribution to the Wakefield RMS 60 square challenge is now complete. Will be at the show 16/17/18 th November at Thornes Park Sports Stadium and then bolted into the layout and then that is definitely definitely finished!

It’s that lull before the storm, PaT testing done, suppliers organised, traders and layout owners all contacted but until next Monday getting stuff ready to take for the Wakefield Show not a lot left to do so will spend sometime today building up these models bought from the secondhand stall last year.

53 and 57 vintage motors but the small garage specialises in the “ older “ models so will use to enhance the little cameo scene.

Interesting that the Magnuson car and Foundry kits look like they are cast in a clear resin with just white metal wheels and bumpers to add.

The Alloy forms is more the traditional white metal kit and as noted elsewhere will resist the temptation to recreate the scene from Tool Man. Might have a go at opening a door and the bonnet to expose an engine

The resin cast models needed to be thoroughly washed in soapy water as paint did not want to stick. I was hoping to use a Sharpie pen but it just “ pulled” across the surface and dried very sticky. Had to start again with paint.

Before doing any major surgery with the Nomad made a paper template and will use to create a replacement bonnet using thin sheet from a tomato paste container.

Using the template then cut a rough shape from the thin metal and with the end of a rounded paint brush handle formed the shape over the existing white metal bonnet. Will need to make inner wheel pieces and will use a Langley engine block from the spares box

You need a 398 hemi with multiple Holleys and four on the floor.  And Lakes pipes.

I know, I might add a battery and a disc for the radiator cap but I am not going to shave the bumpers, drop it to the floor or put 18 s on the front and 20 s on the back to get the stance right
