I have gone back to the loco, trying to get most of the brass done before my holiday.

I started by sorting out the smokebox and saddle, I also added apiece of scrap as a front to the firebox. I was unhappy about the great hole there. The boiler unit was then added to the footplate.

I then added the front platform lamp brackets. I then decided to solder on the chimney etc as they are great lumps of brass. The dome needed a bit of work to get it to sit down nicely. The have the ability to screw down the ome and safety valve cover, not sure of the thread size though, possibly 0BA, so if you are polishing them you will be able to fit after painting.

After this I did some work with the cab the reverser comes in 6 pieces to which 4 bits of wire are added. I also soldered the etch for the gauges to the specticle plate.

The the firebox mounting and the reach rod were also fitted. The cylinder cover was formed and added. I also made a start with handrails. The ones on the cab were adde after the boiler had been fitted. The lefthand handrail knobs have been soldered in place, the right hand ones will need to wait until I get the the vacuum ejector fitted, Which just happens to be in the UK, I managed to win one on Ebay. That will be on its way to me very shortly along with some wheels I also won. Now that will be interesting, looks like the next loco may well be a 350 HP diesel shunter. You will also see the clacks have been fitted. I have had to move them forward as the kit has the holes under the dome, and the one I am modelling had them forward of the dome.

Well almost there with the brass, and the only whitemetal parts are 4 sand box fillers and the smoke box door.
