A handfull of Kit Built ex LNER locos

With Nu-Cast originating in my home village it would seem sensible ( at the time) to build some of their offerings.

First up a Q6.

my second kit built loco - MW005 motor, Ks wheels and still going strong... just ready for a rebuild and repaint/weather.

The next is a V2 built by my father and painted/lined by me.

This has been used on Herculaneum Dock but really needs a replacement chassis in place of the big lump of white metal it has now

Why Durham School? Well, I played rugby against Durham School every year for 7 years and walked under the nameplate every time we played there!

And finally for now - something of an oddity - but not for much longer a Ks P2. Still got a HP2M motor and Ks wheels.

enjoy!

Very impressive. Am I right in thinking that the driving wheels on the Q6 are all flanged but the middle 2 pairs on the P2 are flangeless? What are the minimum radius curves they can go round?

I need to check - they are currently in my new layout room packed away but I will try and dig them out.

The photo suggests that the Q6 has all-flanged wheels. Wonder what the minimum working radius for this model is?

It has all flanged wheels - I will measure the radius but for an 0-8-0 its quite a short wheelbase.

The real things used to squeak a lot going through the pit yard  and where really noisy going through the West Hartlepool station goods avoiding lines.

Both the Q6 and P2 have all flanged drivers.

I have to dig out some Hornby track to see what corners they will go around tomorrow hopefully

Right

having cleaned and oiled the Q6 and P2 I did some radii checking.

They don't go round 2nd Radius curves (17.5") but do go round 3rd radius curves (19 and seven eights inches). The P2 has various things at the front end which does make it a tad tight.

And the P2 has a D13 in it rather than the HP2M I thought was fitted.

Hope this answers the questions...
