Making progress

Well, no RMweb left me with little choice but to do some actual modelling!

Work has now started on the top of embankment scenes, with the area surrounding the flat being first. The base for this is 5mm foam board which was sprayed with plasti-kote Tan Suede texture paint. Halfords grey primer was then misted over the top. The pavements were then added and curb stones individually added to the edges. Once dry, the roads were given a wash over with thinned black paint to give a weathered road effect. I can't claim any originality in this method though, the idea coming from Jim S-W. The end effect is quite pleasing to my eye.

Anyway, here is a shot of the scene:

I've also decided to go with Will's suggestion of having a second block under construction, and the hoardings have started to go up around the site. This is simply plasticard scribed and then painted with the reverse side having plywood applied by taking a photo of the real thing and then printing it out. The palisade fencing is from N Brass and the grass is the trusty woodland scenics field grass which this time was fixed using PVA and then trimmed down to quite a short length with a razor once the glue had set.

Here's a shot of it in place. Obviously still a lot of work to be done but I'm quite please with how it's turning out:

Some weathering experiments have also been taking place with a few Farish HAA's and simple washes of thinned black paint on the hopper:

And finally, an arty-farty shot:

Cheers all, and thanks to Andy & team for team for their efforts with the site :icon_thumbsup2:

Agree with the previous post absolutely stunning, love the block of flats top modelling.

The road effect looks really good, Jim has come up with a great method there and you have mastered it perfectly. It certainly does look good.

Thats the start of a slippery slope, you will have me suggesting all manner of things!

It is the sort of urban scene that needs a fox or two, wonder if you can get ones in N?

(that or a badger..)
