Moving to P4 (Post 5)

The replacement point blade that was wrong/same as I posted back that I again returned with a more full letter and diagrams still hasn't arrived. It was posted last wednesday and I'm still waiting.

One tends to think that if it isn't lost in the post it's some cruel trick to wind me up more than I already am. Been about a month since I made any progress. I really do not want to have to get on the phone or send a nag letter.

One day i might make another progress post. :nono:

To be honest, I'd give Len a call. I'm sure it's not deliberate. Please don't let this put you off P4

I did give Len a call, and he said to send the old one back, so I sent the old one back with diagrams and explanation and what was sent back to be was the exact same (or copy of) pointblade! So I sent it back with another letter, this time printed and 2 printouts of diagrmas explaining the prob, but haven't got anything back yet. I don't think it's Len himself.

Will wait until Wednesday then give a call.

It hasn't put me off P4 but I do feel like I'm pissing in the wind, haven't done anything for a month. :(

There is a fair amount of this in modelling anyway.

Have another beer.

Just opened a bottle of london pride too.... lovely! Good choice!

I'd not bother waiting until next week and I'd give Len a call asap... unless he's at a show this weekend.

Actually, I found that the switches on my turnout were a little odd... the one that should have been curved was straight... and visa versa... but with a little pressure, I was able to straighten the curved one and simultaneously curve the straight one. The other kit was then checked - not made yet... and is fine.

I admit that I was missing the checkrails in the first kit... and I did have to ask Len twice, but had a nice chat each time... so well worth the wait. I now have one turnout and another to be tried. For now I'm working on a working diorama / micro layout to try and get my hand in with P4... I don't think it'll need a turnout for the first bits... but they will come in eventually... assuming the plan matures.

So stick with it, enjoy the London Pride (slurp) it is nice and flavoursome isn't it... aahhhh. and I hope you're able to soon be making some progress as you want to.

Thanks Jon, :)

Many people have suggested that I do a wagon conversion in the mean time but I can't really because my desk is taken up by this point that I refuse to touch until complete. Too many jobs makes everything look like a scrap yard and I can't think, that and I can never understand or find which compensation unit thingummy's I need. The ones I think I need are always sold out at the S4 Stores and blah blah wheeooo. Still, if I wait exactly 2 weeks till I phone them it'll give them enough rope to hang themselves with. I'm still rekoning it's been lost in post or something so i'm not going to blast full blame on them, but if it is lost in the post they bettter not expect me to pay for the replacment switch blade due to a lack of them getting the one I sent as a swap. Not with all this trouble. I've been looking at the desk longingly and mixed emotions are forming.

London Pride, Directors, Abbot Ale, Hob Goblin, Newcastle Brown Ale, Mann's, Pedigree - All brilliant beers those, evidently you can tell I like the expensive big glass bottled types at the top of the off licence shelf! ;D

Cheapo beers and lagers are ok but compared to the above ale types it's a bit like drinking stale pee.

Could you try converting some stock while you wait for the point, or some plain track perhaps?

Ok, I've taken steps to do this, had to reorange things and I've slid the board with the point and template under thesofa downstairs. I'm hoping it'll be safe, however I don't like the idea of going to the C&L Timber tracks point kit while I wait for Exacto' becaue the idea was to do things in order of complexity and difficulty. Might keep looking for those compensation things, dunno.
