  1. Always a bit worrying when a supplier's Mastermind specialist subject is avoiding the question.

  2. Notification settings still very flaky

I'm glad I didn't use bollox instead of 'flaky'...

  3. Shouting at prats on the TV or the radio doesn't stop them, but makes me feel better

When I was a very young child, I thought that if I shouted right into the speaker on the TV, they'd be able to hear me. It never worked, sadly.

Invest in a foam brick to chuck at the screen, that'll help too.

Don't worry as Mr Humphries is actually and really, really leaving the morning shout over anyone interviewed (except in very special circumstances) programme.

  4. 'Blue Pullman' currently on Talkingpics TV

      The Stationmaster

Yes - I didn't realise it was on until I heard the sound at the beginning and nipped into the living room to find it on so i only missed the first minute or two.  They do tend to repeat the 'Look At Life' programmes aftera few weeks  so it might be on again some time.

      A few weeks?

I wonder when that might be - and what "festive turkeys" might be on the "mainstream" channels?

    3. The Stationmaster

      The Stationmaster

The one about the Black Arrows - 111 Sqn aerobatic team with black painted Hawker Hunters - was repeated after only three weeks.  The only detailed 'Talking Pictures' schedules so far available go up to 12 December.  However this was listed in the Radio Times as 'Blue Pullman' so if it will be repeated shortly it looks as if it could be found that way if you're prepared to wade through the RT up until 31 December - assuming that it will be repeated before then of course?

  5. 80 pages of Little Muddle to look at, but I'm going to take my time

  6. Catching up on the last 20 pages of the D299 thread!

I took an impromptu trip last week as I had a couple of hours to kill in London.  Went from Farringdon to Ealing Broadway and then back to Paddington for a walk to Euston.

Quite impressed by it all, but it's just a rapid transit system, so underground on steroids.  I imagine for the people that use it daily it's great though, no sooner has one train left another one is arriving.

As you can see from my album I was more interested in the architecture, design and artworks. As you say they are just rather smart tube trains. I prefer to travel facing forward and when I bagged a forward facing seat I found they were definitely more comfortable than the dreaded Thameslink 700s.

Looks ok here.  I'll be doing something more constructive, sorting things out in the shed*.

I submitted my postal vote last week!

      * Get boxes out into the daylight, look at them, rearrange, put them back in the shed...

  9. Great Western tank engine polls are a bit like London buses at the moment...

  10. Had to press 'load more activity' 18 times before all the unread content was showing. How tedious is that? Still, I suppose the mobile users like it...

  16. Why is Google complete rubbish at finding flickr pictures? (Or maybe flickr has a default 'no-follow' robots rule?)

Google has recently altered something in the back end for images generally. At work when I try to image search & do funky tricks with it I get awful results now.

    3. Pacific231G

      Pacific231G

That's odd. I used Google to identify a couple of fairly obscure images (of a bridge in France) yesterday and it found the source almost immediately.  However, it's possible that either Google is favouring its own competing photo sharing/storage site.

Always remember that if a commerical service gives you something for free then you're the product not the customer.

I've just carried out a search on Google for BR green class 37 using the search term BR green class 37 flickr.  Every result was for green class 37s on Flickr.

You have to be specific on what you are looking for, otherwise you'll end with random results.  Same with every major search engine.

“XP Good, Vista Bad, 7 Good, 8 Bad, 10 Good...”

10 not as bad as 8, but that doesn’t make it good. 7 was better. Myself, I use Mac out of choice, and only suffer W10 because it’s thrust upon me by my employer. Even then, I still do most work on the Mac.

Brunel's track was rubbish, actually. It wasn't until they removed the original piles that it started to be anywhere near smooth. By which time, it was all too late of course

Don't know, Mike. The (book) quote was unattributed. Doesn't feel particularly Ahrons to me though.
