An update on the progress with the insurance company and their subcontractors. They still haven't assessed the car and it is unlikely they will have assessed it before Monday. Their excuse is that there is a lot of cars needing assessing and it is taking longer than expected to be done. When asked about claiming for loss of earnings etc they said they couldn't say anything.

Definitely the bollard. There must have been at least 10 paint shades on it. Didn't know there was an organisation.

Luckily the bollard looked like it hit on a number of occasions in the past and it doesn't look like I did any damage to it. Still waiting to hear.

I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else recently. On Tuesday I had a confrontation with a concrete bollard in a carpark. The damage was bad enough to claim on the insurance so reported it to our insurance company. So far so good. They organised for a third party to pick up the car, assess it and if deemed repairable a hire car would be issued. They then said it would be a week before they could pick it up. Went back to the insurance company who sorted out someone else to pick the car up and take it to be assessed by the third party. Then the third party said they had no record of the car's arrival. Even though we knew they had the car. The repair people are now saying it could be a week before anyone can look at the car, so no hire car until then. Which leaves either me or the wife not being able to get to work etc. probably not a problem if you live in a urban environment with public transport but out here in the sticks major issue. Any thoughts of what we need to do next, very welcome. Marc

Most of the lead mines in Yorkshire and the lakes had a smelter close by. Lead ingots were quite often photographed being loaded in places like Middleton in teesdale and other stations in the area. It comes down to the principle of what is the heaviest thing to move ore or coal. It's why barrow developed a a steel town coke is easier to ship in rather than iron ore out. Marc

W C Boggs was out and about over the weekend at Manchester model railway show. A great week end and big thanks to Phil Sweat and his team. It wa a great weekend apart from braking the slide bars on my M/W 0-4-0st. A month before we go again. It next outing is Kendal show at the end of January.

Definitely an iron mink but what type? And who was the operator? Most of the Welsh companies had them as well as some private businesses. They are not just a GWR thing. I have the HMRS iron mink book at home so I will have a look tomorrow night when I get home from Manchester show. Things that change length of body, wheel base and position of the vent on the end. Good news the etchers have found the artwork and have just sent me 18 wagons worth of parts. Most of these are already spoken for but I have enough parts for 5 wagons. If anyone wants them. The prototypes will be on show at the Guildford o gauge show on Saturday I will have 5 random wagons from the range available on the day unless someone wants a specific wagon. A new wagon to add to the Furness PO wagon book

The index of published photos of PO wagons draws a blank on the ***** Wood Colliery nothing close so it coul be a new one. However a quick search of the HMRS photos came up with Soothill Wood Colliery Batley West Yorks It's not the same wagon but the lettering matches

I have the high Res copy so I will have detailed scan of it tonight after the boss goes to work and see if I can add any more to the conversation

If you start with a flat baseboard and add foam to the top you get all the benefits of an open topped board and all the benefits of a flat board without any of the disadvantages. It's what I did when I built Scratchy Bottom standard off the shelf baseboards with 25mm of high density closed cell foam board on top. Then carved to look like an embankment. If you wanted higher embankments just used thicker foam. Marc

I had a look at some or the suburban coaches and as they are unfitted they are only suitable for running pre1885 and the IEG livery Terriers are in a form that dates them between 1885 and 1897. So if you have Terriers then you need the mainline coaches.

Delabold in Cornwall

From my research I have found out the following re types of wagon used for slate traffic LSWR used a mixture of 1plk stone and 3plk dropside LNWR used dia 1 1plks, dia 2 2plk and dia 7 2plank dropside which were adapted to take 3 narrow gauge slate wagons. Cambrian used 2 planks both fixed and dropside. Furness used mainly 1 and 2 planks. Still got some work to do the GWR and Caledonian

I have 9 o gauge Dapol Terriers 6 of which are in Improved Engine Green all different numbers and names two have even got different brakes. I have one more to get to have all the IEG locos. Just need a layout to run them on.

Height will be lower as it's still sat on its spikes which will be pushed into the foam. I can make it is Modular do additional length is not a problem. Marc

Keep the platform, make a bigger one or get rid and replace with fence posts?

The company owned track has been re-ballasted to LBSCR/NSWGR practice in the 1880's/1890's. The private line that would go off to some sort of industry has been grassed to the point only the rail head is visible. Next job is to put some 2.5mm grass around the front edge. I'm in two minds about putting back the wooden platform and grounded coach. Marc
