Thanks Pix, that answer's that one then! I had a feeling that the use of limewash must have ended as I couldn't remember any white stained BR vans! Julia, I think the amount of staining is fine as it is but wouldn't go any further! I was possibly suggesting going over the existing staining with a lime colour, however thanks to Pix this is unlikely to have been the case anyway! That last pic looks the best on the lot IMHO, nice and subtle, so you must have got the setting perfected by then! B) Best Wishes Paul

Suberb bit of modelling Missy! Just one tiny observation. Cattle van's tended to have a lime wash (or at least they did in GWR days) as apparent by the white staining on their lower section. Would this white staining have also affected the cattle dock? You'd need to check prototype photo's to confim this, but if so would it be worth dry brushing some of the dark vertical staining with a bit of white/cream? I wouldn't add any further vertical staining to what you've already done through fear of over-doing it. Best Wishes Paul

I do quite like the BM chassis overlay's, however like yourself I too prefer the full replacement chassis option, with the chance to open up the inside of the frames too! A big S&D inspired roundy roundy, what a fantastic idea! I've always felt the Midford Valley lend's itself to this type of build and with little in the way of pointwork! For a man with your reputation and layout portfolio it shouldn't take you too long Chris! Back on topic I too have been impressed with the running qualities of my 7f. This may however prove immaterial if my intensions of a replacement etched P4 chassis come to fruition, that would be far in the dim and distance future however! Best Wishes Paul

CK, Robin and I have come across the same issue when discussing the Barrow Road lever frame. Robin's using the Masokit's leverframe and it is possible to make this a bit more like the Midland frame but not perfect. I guess a GWR lever frame at Callow Lane when it was taken over by the Western wouldn't be too far fetched! Keep up the good work! Best Wishes Paul

Scraping the paint off on the name board Rob has really worked well! Bit of paint has really brought life to the structure, although I did very much like it in the photographic white too, not much good for the final product though! Looking forward to seeing the real thing on Tuesday! Paul

Looks absolutely stunning Dave! Out of interest, how many vehicles can you fit in the run round loop? Also is there likely to be some interesting movements to enable the WC specials to take place, with potentially a temporary station pilot to relase the train loco and maximise the number of coaching stock possible for instance? I think the B&W looks slightly more realistic (but that's probably because i'm only used to seeing pictures as appose to recalling memories!) Cracking bit of work though Missy, the 52xx does look superb! Love the weathering and it deffinitely deserves a big thumbs up for 2mm FS! Not surprised you've managed to lose componants when you're working with something that small! That said I know people who lose parts of the full size things too! Merry Christmas to you too! Paul

John it does indeed appear to be a tough life on the otherside of the river! We've had a gentle dusting of the white stuff over here but nothing much to shout about just yet! Pleased to see that it's not hindering your Barrow Road Duties, it's good to see that they are made of stronger stuff in the West Country, it'll take more than a bit of snow to disrupt preceedings at Barrow Road! Mallard, the gauge is slightly exaggerated in the pics. The current templot plan isn't quite on the correct allignment upon entering the shed and will be replaced in due course, as a result the 7f is placed off the track plan but on a more appropriate position in relation to the shed walls, hence the apparently huge difference in track gauge. Robin has done an excellent job on the colouration of the shed walls and when they come under close scruitiney, such as in these photos, the shed really does ouse with atmosphere Thanks for sharing the pics Rob!
